Palava 1.0.2.0
Palava is a communication protocol to build Web applications using PHP and Java. more>>
Palava is a communication protocol to build Web applications using PHP and Java. The project allows you to build modern 3-tier architectures, where PHP runs on the frontend servers and Java runs on the backend.
It consists of a Java backend server to handle the communication, providing a component deployment mechanism, and a PHP library to access backend jobs from the frontend(s). Palava makes it easy to reuse existing Java business logic in easily created, modern PHP frontends.
Palava is not a full blown Web site framework, but instead encourages the use of existing frameworks like CodeIgniter.
Enhancements:
- This release adds generic JBoss support.
- It uses the build.jboss file to build a bean.
- There are minor bugfixes.

MPlayer 1.0 RC1
MPlayer is a movie player for Linux. more>>
MPlayer is a movie player for Linux (runs on many other Unices, and non-x86 CPUs, see the documentation). MPlayer plays most MPEG, VOB, AVI, Ogg/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV, QT/MOV/MP4, FLI, RM, NuppelVideo, YUV4MPEG, FILM, RoQ, PVA files, supported by many native, XAnim, and Win32 DLL codecs. You can watch VideoCD, SVCD, DVD, 3ivx, DivX 3/4/5 and even WMV movies, too (without the avifile library).

RSStool 1.0.0 RC2
rsstool is a software to read, parse, merge and write RSS (and Atom) feeds. more>>
RSStool is a software to read, parse, merge and write RSS (and Atom) feeds.
Lately a new technology called "RSS feeds" has caught my attention I decided to make it successful by writing this small tool.
Usage:
rsstool [OPTION] FILE|URL...
Read, parse, merge and write RSS (and ATOM) feeds
Supports: RSS 0.9x, 1.0, 2.0 and ATOM 0.1, 0.2, 0.3
The RSS (or ATOM) feeds will be merged and re-sorted if you enter more than
one URL or FILEname
Options:
--version output version information and exit
--help display this help and exit
-q be quiet/less verbose
-s strip HTML code from RSS (or Atom) feeds
-r sort reverse
--html output as html (using -q will result in single line)
--txt output as plain text (using -q will result in single line)
-1 output as single line
--template=FILE|URL parse template file and replace tags with content
Tags: "< rsstool:url item=NUM >" url/link of item NUM
"< rsstool:title item=NUM >" title of item NUM
"< rsstool:desc item=NUM >" description of item
with NUM
"< rsstool:date item=NUM >" date of item NUM
"< rsstool:site item=NUM >" site where item with
NUM came from
Thats right, you could use/replace these custom tags in HTML
pages and upload them to a server who does only static HTML
"< rsstool:start item=NUM >" start of item NUM
"< rsstool:end item=NUM >" end of item NUM
These tags will be replaced with a "< !--" and a "-- >" if
the item NUM is empty
"< rsstool:updated >" rsstool notice (Thank You!)
--property=FILENAME output feed(s) into a property file
Layout: NAME_NUM=VALUE
NAME is "title", "url", etc..
NUM is an integer counting the items
VALUE is the content

Featherweight Linux 1.3
Featherweight Linux is a Live-CD installable Linux distribution that is remastered from Feather Linux. more>>
Featherweight Linux is my Live-CD installable Linux distribution that I remastered from Feather Linux, which is built on knoppix technology. Youll find some great people over at Feather and you can find some good documentation there.
Their goal is to make a light and fast Linux with a very small footprint that can be installed on USB pen drives and such. My goal is a bit different. I want a full featured Linux that isnt bloated with a kazillion gigs of crap that Ill never use. I want a small footprint that is light and fast, even on older machines, but still carries a knockout punch.
So I took Feather and stripped out a bunch of apps that I never even thought of using. I wanted to make an easy to understand desktop that was compatible and easily configurable with the latest apps being developed, so I removed all of the window managers and installed a minimal KDE 3.3 desktop.
I included the most popular internet apps like the Mozilla Suite complete with plugins, Gaim, Gftp etc... I added full printer support and wifi support. In my test environment, it automatically detects and configures both my network printer (HP PSC 1210)and my linksys wireless card. Hopefully, itll do the same for you. It is debian based so I installed Synaptic for easy upgrading and totally FREE software management. Customizing your own system with the software that you want is only a few clicks away.
In its current state, the ISO is about 240mb and the HDD install is about 700mb, which is about 1/4 of all the other overweight distros out there. Once you install it, you can install OpenOffice and a bunch of other stuff if you need it, but I just wanted to make a good solid functional base so you can build your own system if you want.
Featherweight is intended for novice users with "some" linux experience, intermediate users, and experienced linux users alike. It has a pretty straight forward install but you should know linux and HDD partitioning basics before trying to install it.

Enhancements:
- Ive upgraded e2fsprogs and e2fslibs as well as some other critical core files.
- I updated the apt sources and added abiword and acroread, as well as the acroread mozilla plugin, and I added kppp.
- I upgraded samba and switched the quick start konqueror and kde help buttons with a mozilla button and a konsole button.
- I fixed the install script where some folks were getting a blank screen after installation and added a grub install script for easy installation of grub after the initial install.
- The total installed size is now about 800mb.
<<lessTheir goal is to make a light and fast Linux with a very small footprint that can be installed on USB pen drives and such.

Mp3dings 1.0 / 2.0 Beta 1
Mp3dings is a small, powerful and easy-to-use program allowing you to change the names and edit the meta-information of mp3s. more>>
Mp3dings is a small, powerful and easy-to-use program that allows you to change the names and edit the meta-information of a large number of mp3 files at the same time.
Main features:
- transfer information from filenames to ID3 tags and vice versa
- consistently name and/or tag your mp3 files
- reorganize the directory structure of your mp3 collection
Programs with similar scope usually lack the ability to process a large number of ID3 tags at the same time. Mp3dings is written in Java and can thus be used on every platform for which there is a Java Runtime Environment.
ID3 is a standard to store meta-information (author, title etc.) inside an audio file. An ID3v1 tag takes up a fixed number of bytes at the end of the file. This makes ID3v1 easy to implement but also severely limits the kind and amount of data such a tag can contain.
ID3v2 tags on the other hand can be arbitrarily large and can be used to store just about any kind of data. Naturally, this makes it quite hard to implement routines that read and write these tags. Mp3dings fully supports ID3v1 tags and a core set of ID3v2 frames (which will be extended gradually).

FinScribe 0.7
FinScribe is a flexible Web authoring application which provides wiki and weblog. more>>
FinScribe is a flexible web authoring application, which provides Wiki and Weblog authoring functionality in one application (commonly referred to as a "bliki".)
FinScribe was written as a technology demonstration for the Fins web application framework, FinScribe has grown into a full featured application that offers the best features of many different applications in one easy to use package.
FinScribe (and indeed, the whole underlying Fins framework) was born out of a desire to replace SnipSnap as the engine for this website. While it was (and is) a wonderful application, SnipSnap had a few very bad habits, such as eating a large amount of RAM and being rather slow. Additionally, SnipSnaps development pace had slowed considerably, leaving me to wonder if the shortcomings Id encountered would be fixed or improved in a timely manner.
After approximitely a week of development, FinScribe replaced SnipSnap on this website, and we havent looked back since. Weve made a large number of enhancements since then, and hope to continue the current pace of development in the future.
Note: There is no SnipSnap code in FinScribe, though the CSS stylesheets shipped with FinScribe are very slightly modified versions of those included with SnipSnap.
This is primarily due to the fact that this application was designed to be at least partially compatible with SnipSnap. As things continue to develop, well probably replace the stylesheets with something more original.
Main features:
- Flexible Wiki engine using SnipSnap compatible markup
- Weblog functionality
- Multiple Weblogs per application (each page may be a weblog)
- Multi-user capable
- Per-object Comments
- Extendible via Plugins (both wiki markup and application level macros)
- Produces RSS 2.0 feeds for Weblogs
- Includes an RSS 0.92/1.0/2.0 feed reader
- Category support
- Attachment support
- User administration

<<lessFinScribe was written as a technology demonstration for the Fins web application framework, FinScribe has grown into a full featured application that offers the best features of many different applications in one easy to use package.
- User self-registration
- Skinnable interface using CSS
- Versioning capability (new versions are created upon object saves)
- Deployable as a standalone web server, as a module within Caudium, or using [external]FastCGI (tested with Apache).

App::ErrorCalculator 1.01
App::ErrorCalculator is a Perl module that contains calculations with Gaussian Error Propagation. more>>
App::ErrorCalculator is a Perl module that contains calculations with Gaussian Error Propagation.
SYNOPSIS
# You can use the errorcalculator script instead.
require App::ErrorCalculator;
App::ErrorCalculator->run();
# Using the script:
# errorcalculator
errorcalculator and its implementing Perl module App::ErrorCalculator is a Gtk2 tool that lets you do calculations with automatic error propagation.
Start the script, enter a function into the function entry field, select an input file, select an output file and hit the Run Calculation button to have all data in the input field processed according to the function and written to the output file.
Functions should consist of a function name followed by an equals sign and a function body. All identifiers (both the function name and all variables in the function body) should start with a letter. They may contain letters, numbers and underscores.
The function body may contain any number of constants, variables, operators, functions and parenthesis. The exact syntax can be obtained by reading the manual page for Math::Symbolic::Parser. Arithmetic operators (+ - * / ^) are supported. The caret indicates exponentiation. Trigonometric, inverse trigonometric and hyperbolic functions are implemented (sin cos tan cot asin acos atan acot sinh cosh asinh acoth). log indicates a natural logarithm.
Additionally, you may include derivatives in the formula which will be evaluated (analytically) for you. The syntax for this is: partial_derivative(a * x + b, x). (Would evaluate to a.)
In order to allow for errors in constants, the program uses the Math::SymbolicX::Error parser extension: use the error(1 +/- 0.2) function to include constants with associated uncertainties in your formulas.
The input files may be of any format recognized by the Spreadsheet::Read module. That means: Excel sheets, OpenOffice (1.0) spreadsheets, CSV (comma separated values) text files, etc.
The program reads tabular data from the spreadsheet file. It expects each column to contain the data for one variable in the formula.
a, b, c
1, 2, 3
4, 5, 6
7, 8, 9
This would assign 1 to the variable a, 2 to b and 3 to c and then evaluate the formula with those values. The result would be written to the first data line of the output file. Then, the data in the next row will be used and so on. If a column is missing data, it is assumed to be zero.
Since this is about errors, you can declare any number of errors to the numbers as demonstrated below:
a, a_1, a_2, b, b_1
1, 0.2, 0.1, 2, 0.3
4, 0.3, 0.3, 5, 0.6
7, 0.4, 0,1, 8, 0.9
Apart from dropping c for brevity, this example input adds columns for the errors of a and b. a has two errors: a_1 and a_2. b only has one error b_1 which corresponds to the error a_1. When calculating, a will be used as 1 +/- 0.2 +/- 0.1 in the first calculation and b as 2 +/- 0.3 +/- 0. The error propagation is implemented using Number::WithError so thats where you go for details.
The output file will be a CSV file similar to the input examples above.

The inferences might be approximate reasoning about precise knowledge, or precise reasoning about approximate knowledge. This vagueness allows the capture and application of human expert knowledge.
Overloads Perl operators to perform operations on Fuzzy Sets.
