GIMP arrow and cursor brushes 1.0
GIMP arrow and cursor brushes project consists of 17 sets of arrows and three cursors (a total of 72 brushes) for GIMP. more>>
GIMP arrow and cursor brushes project consists of 17 sets of arrows and three cursors (a total of 72 brushes) to put in your GIMP brushes folder.
Arrow brushes is my small payback for using the great GIMP program.
I had a hard time (actually impossible) finding any arrow brushes for the GIMP.
But .gbr files are easy to make, so I spent two days of my life making these arrows
(and a few "cursors") as my modest contribution.
Use them for anything youd like. If you redistribute them, please include this file.
I post these, and perhaps make updates, at gimphelp.org. All the items will also be included (in png format) at wpclipart.com, the Public Domain clipart site.

Mapyrus 0.703
Mapyrus is software for creating plots of points, lines, polygons and labels to PostScript. more>>
Mapyrus project can create plots of points, lines, polygons and labels to PostScript (high resolution, up to A0 paper size), Portable Document Format (PDF), Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format and web image output formats.
Mapyrus is freely-available and is implemented entirely in Java enabling it to run on Linux, Sun Solaris, MicroSoft Windows and other platforms for which Java is available.
Main features:
- A Logo or turtle graphics program.
- An imaginary pen is moved around a page, creating shapes that are drawn into an image file. Reusable routines are built up using a BASIC-like language. Branching and looping constructs enable complex shapes, symbols and patterns to be be defined.
- Reading and displaying of geographic information system (GIS) datasets, text files, or tables held in a relational database (including spatially extended databases such as PostGIS and MySQL).
- Drawing routines are applied to geographic data to produce annotated and symbolized maps and graphs. Attributes of the geographic data control the color, size, annotation and other characteristics of the appearance of the geographic data. Scalebars, legends, coordinate grids and north arrows are also available.
- Integration with the freely-available Java Topology Suite from Vivid Solutions. This library provides geometric algorithms such as buffering, point-in-polygon test and polygon intersection.
- Integration with the ogrinfo program, part of the freely-available OGR library. This program provides access to many GIS data formats.
- Flexibility. Running in one of two ways.
- As a stand-alone program for integration into scripts and batch tasks (suitable for generating a one-off map or a series of similar maps from a template showing different areas, or using different criteria for each map).
- As a self-contained web server providing map and graph images to a web-based application. This also enables Mapyrus to be integrated into larger applications (such as PHP-based applications), with map images fetched using HTTP requests.
Enhancements:
- Upgrade to Java version 1.5.
- Enable shell environment variables to be used directly in Mapyrus.
- Fix reading of ESRI Shape files to correctly read zero width attribute fields, files containing only a single point, and MULTIPOINT geometry having only one point.

ParaView 2.6.0
ParaView project is an application designed with the need to visualize large data sets in mind. more>>
ParaView project is an application designed with the need to visualize large data sets in mind. The goals of the ParaView project include the following:
- Develop an open-source, multi-platform visualization application.
- Support distributed computation models to process large data sets.
- Create an open, flexible, and intuitive user interface.
- Develop an extensible architecture based on open standards.
ParaView runs on distributed and shared memory parallel as well as single processor systems and has been succesfully tested on Windows, Linux and various Unix workstations and clusters. Under the hood, ParaView uses the Visualization Toolkit as the data processing and rendering engine and has a user interface written using a unique blend of Tcl/Tk and C++. Please go here for a detailed list of features.
ParaView was created by Kitware in conjunction with Jim Ahrens of the Advanced Computing Laboratory at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Contributors and developers of ParaView currently include: Kitware, LANL, Sandia National Laboratories, and Army Research Laboratory. ParaView is funded by the US Department of Energy ASCI Views program as part of a three-year contract awarded to Kitware, Inc. by a consortium of three National Labs - Los Alamos, Sandia, and Livermore. The goal of the project is to develop scalable parallel processing tools with an emphasis on distributed memory implementations. The project includes parallel algorithms, infrastructure, I/O, support, and display devices. One significant feature of the contract is that all software developed is to be delivered open source. Hence ParaView is available as an open-source system.
Main features:
- Handles structured (uniform rectilinear, non-uniform rectilinear, and curvilinear grids), unstructured, polygonal and image data.
- All processing operations (filters) produce datasets. This allows the user to either further process or save as a data file the result of every operation. For example, the user can extract a cut surface, reduce the number of points on this surface by masking, and apply glyphs (for example, vector arrows) to the result.
- Contours and isosurfaces can be extracted from all data types using scalars or vector components. The results can be colored by any other variable or processed further. When possible, structured data contours/isosurfaces are extracted with fast and efficient algorithms which make use of the special data layout.
- Vectors fields can be inspected by applying glyphs (arrows, cones, lines, spheres, and various 2D glyphs) to the points in a dataset. The glyphs can be scaled by scalars, vector component or vector magnitude and can be oriented using a vector field.
- A sub-region of a dataset can be extracted by cutting or clipping with an arbitrary plane (all data types), specifying a threshold criteria to exclude cells (all data types) and/or specifying a VOI (volume of interest - structured data types only)
- Streamlines can be generated using constant step or adaptive integrators. The results can be displayed as points, lines, tubes, ribbons, etc., and can be processed by a multitude of filters.
- The points in a dataset can be warped (displaced) with scalars (given a user defined displacement vector) or with vectors (unavailable for non-linear rectilinear grids).
- With the array calculator, new variables can be computed using existing point or cell field arrays. A multitude of scalar and vector operations are supported.
- Data can be probed at a point or along a line. The results are displayed either graphically or as text and can be exported for further analysis.
- ParaView provides many other data sources and filters by default (edge extraction, surface extraction, reflection, decimation, extrusion, smoothing...) and any VTK filter can be added by providing a simple XML description (VTK provides hundreds of sources and filters, see VTK documentation for a complete list).
Enhancements:
- This release adds parallel uniform rectilinear grid volume rendering (vtkImageData).
- It introduces new algorithms for parallel unstructured grid volume rendering.
- Support for hardware accelerated offscreen rendering using OpenGL framebuffers.
- Improved multi-block support.
- Improved AMR support.
- Animation saving with ffmpeg.
- Filters have been added for FLUENT, OpenFOAM, MFIX, LSDyna, and AcuSolve.
- A gradient filter for unstructured data.
- Many other enhancements and bugfixes.

Crossfire TRT 2.1
Crossfire TRT project is an advancement of the crossfire multi-user RPG game. more>>
Crossfire TRT project is an advancement of the crossfire multi-user RPG game. Unlike the original project, it focuses mainly on stability and playability, but also adds modern technology such as map scripting, Perl server extensions, asynchronous I/O, higher resolution graphics, and better client support.
Main features:
- Death is not permanent, and you can get back all lost stats and experience by playing a game in a special place named Nimbus. You are teleported there when you die and you have to play a game (currently minesweeper) to get out.
- Friendly fire is disabled and playerkilling is also modified. You can only kill another player when you and the other player are hostile. To become hostile, you have to visit the church of Gorokh in Scorn and talk to the priest. To become peaceful again, visit the curch of Valriel and talk to its priest.
- Invitation of other players to where you are is possible with the invite command. You have to solve the invitor quest (see below in maps) to be able to use the command.
- You can follow other players with the follow command when you stand next to the player you want to follow.
- Pet monsters and summoned creatures will not stand in the way of other party members, making it bearable to play with summoning skills in a party.
- Map and graphics artists are working on improved graphics and new maps and quests.
- A new currency: the Royalty. Its worth 100 Platinum and is made of paper. (The bank script was completly rewritten in Perl)
- The communication commands have been rewritten in Perl and an ignore command was added.
- Trade shops have been implemented in Perl, which allows the player to trade items when they are offline.
- Big 64x64 faces and tiles have been introduced, which have a higher detail level than the old 32x32 tiles, and can be used with the CFPlus client.
Enhancements:
- optimised event invocation (non-wanted events can now be skipped with 4-5 inlined instructions).
- complete rewrite of town_portal: it now creates a portal to the "nearest" town only, travel is only possible to the town and back, anybody can use it (also removes one of the remaining syncpoints in the server).
- complete rewrite of the range/attack skill slot system: there are now two slots, one for combat, one for ranged attacks.
- introduce the concept of a current weapon (either a ranged or a combat weapon/skill/tool) and switch between them as needed.
- rewrite bow code so bows get more useful: apply damage, attacktype and other stats to the arrows and treat bows as weapons. also rebalance the missile weapons skill so its damage increases with level.
- rewrite the complete player speed logic: weapon_speed now works as documented and there are no unnatural speed boosts.
- implement a utility - cfutil - that simplifies arch and map installation, replacing the old collect scripts and simplying deployment by scaling and cutting faces as required.
- simplify the map protocol extensively by taking advantage of missing bigfaces, speeding up map generation immensely.
- implement inherit keyword allowing archetypes to inherit from other archetypes.
- rationalise archetype, region and treasurelist file format into a single file format and make them reloadable asynchronously.
- make the worldmap, facedata (smoothing, faces, magicmap) reloadable at runtime.
- implement 64x64 faceset support.
- implement fxixsx protocol that saves a lot of bandwidth over the old image/face/smooth packets and allows images > packetsize, incremental and background transfers.
- implement a bandwidth-saving smoothing protocol that works on a face basis as opposed to a mapspace basis.
- the server can now rate-limit image uploads to not exceed a certain (client-configurable) speed while guarenteeing full freedom of movement.
- implement new ex command to request item descriptions.
- implement new msg command for in-game messages with meta information (using xml).
- enforce utf-8 for all text messages.
- added micropather (not used yet).
- many, many bugfixes.

Bookmarks Scrollbar 1.0.5
Bookmarks Scrollbar is an extension which adds a scrollbar to the bookmarks menu. more>>
Bookmarks Scrollbar is an extension which adds a scrollbar to the bookmarks menu.
A scrollbar is a graphical widget in a GUI with which continuous text, pictures or anything else can be scrolled including time in video applications, i.e., viewed even if it does not fit into the space in a computer display, window, or viewport.
Usually designed as a long rectangular area on one or two sides of the viewing area, containing a bar (or thumb) that can be dragged along a trough to move the body of the document as well as two arrows on either end for precise adjustments. The "thumb" has different names in different environments: on the Macintosh it is called a "thumb" on the Java platform it is called "thumb" or "knob"; Microsofts .NET documentation refers to it as "scroll box" or "scroll thumb"; in other environments it is called "elevator", "puck" or "wiper". Additional functions may be found, such as zooming in/out or various application-specific tools.
The thumb can also sometimes be adjusted by dragging its ends. In this case it would adjust both the position and the zooming of the document, where the size of the thumb represents the degree of zooming applied. A thumb that completely fills the trough, or "track" represents viewing the entire document, at which point the scrollbar may temporarily become hidden.
