Are You Human? is a script that uses a graphical test to insure that a human is being dealt with rather than a script.

This is useful to avoid automated Web signups or automated attempts to crack passwords.

There are many equivalent libraries for other languages but this is the first one for Python. The Python Imaging Library (PIL) is required.

CATSRunner 20050922

CATSRunner 20050922

CATSRunner is a unit testing framework. more>>
CATSRunner is a unit testing framework.
C Automated Testing System (CATS) and its associated test runner (Catsrunner) implement a unit testing framework that provides developers of C-based systems, including embedded systems, the capability to use the popular test driven development approach.
CATS supports embedded cross-platform development by working in conjunction with hardware abstraction layers. CATS also comes with a thin wrapper around arm-elf-gdbs host/target communication functions.
A reference implementation for the ARM-7 CPU core is provided.
Main features:
- Catsrunner was built from the ground up for cross-platform embedded software development.
- Its all written in ANSI C (yes, C++ can do more, but many embedded teams are using C).
- This software is actively maintained - we at Agile Rules built it for our own use.
- Its easy to add new target platforms. It builds now for PC and for ARM Evaluator7T board.
- Catsrunner supports Test Driven Development (and Behavior Driven Development).
- Catsrunner has been tested from its inception on real embedded hardware.
- Its been released under the GPL as open source software
Includes:
- CATS and Catsrunner
- Several other software modules that provide facilities often needed for embedded software development, and abstract hardware to aid easy porting to different architectures.
- A build framework capable of building all of the software in the distribution on different platforms.
- A sample application (appexample) using many of the modules as an example of how the software in the framework fits together.
- A template application (apptemplate), mostly empty, to use as a starting point for new applications added to the framework.
- Unit tests for all included modules and applications

acpi4asus project is a Linux kernel driver that allows owners of Asus laptops to use all the functionalites of their computers such as special keys, special LEDs, brightness control, ...
Driver (asus_acpi)
This driver provides support for extra features of ACPI-compatible ASUS laptops. It may also support some MEDION, JVC or VICTOR laptops (such as MEDION 9675 or VICTOR XP7210 for example). It makes all the extra buttons generate standard ACPI events that go through /proc/acpi/events, and (on some models) adds support for changing the display brightness and output, switching the LCD backlight on and off, and most importantly, allows you to blink those fancy LEDs intended for reporting mail and wireless status.
Deamon (asus_acpid)
Read the README
Ubuntu users must use the acpi-support package, which should be installed by default since 6.10.
Unsupported Laptops
If your laptop is not supported (see dmesg after modprobe asus_acpi) :
Try # modprobe asus_acpi unsupported=1
# cat /proc/acpi/dsdt > /tmp/YOUR_MODEL.dsdt
and send us YOUR_MODEL.dsdt
Enhancements:
- Use acpi_evaluate_integer instead of read_acpi_int Set CWAP if the method exists
- Add wapf parameter
- Make WORKQUEUE static (thx Adrian)
- Add GPS support
- Fix LightSensors support

Expiretable 0.6

Expiretable 0.6

Expiretable is a utility used to remove entries from a pf(4) table based on their age. more>>
Expiretable is a utility used to remove entries from a pf(4) table based on their age. The age in question being the amount of time that has passed since the statistics for each entry in the target table was last cleared.
This program needs to be run as a user with read/write permission to /dev/pf. As with all unknown things that need to be run as the superuser or similar there is always the chance this one will cause death and destruction, so use at your own risk. It WorksForMe< tm >, dont blame me if your cat grows another eye, and so on and so forth.
If you find yourself using this utility, especially for a reason not mentioned here, please tell me about it.
Johan Fredin has been nice enough to provide a port for expiretable. He has also put together a howto on how to use expiretable to block attempts to bruteforce ssh. geek00L has written a short piece on using Snort2c + Expiretable. Thanks to Samuel Ljungkvist and others for ideas.
Enhancements:
- The ability to specify age in minutes, hours, days, etc. was added.
- The age limit was changed to the limit imposed by OpenBSDs nanosleep.

PortScan Plugin 0.0.2a

PortScan Plugin 0.0.2a

The port scan plug in for snort, or just portscan for short is intended to be used in conjunction with snort and logcheck. more>>
The port scan plug in for snort, or just portscan for short is intended to be used in conjunction with snort and logcheck. The tool will allow you to monitor your snort log file and then do port scans based upon certain keywords.

This program requires nmap and snort. If you want it to run automatically you will also need logcheck. Hopefully in the future this program will be built to run as a daemon and will no longer rely on logcheck. But for now use logcheck.

Make sure that Snort is set to log to syslog and that you know which syslog file it is logging to. The contents of the file will look like this :

Jul 6 18:34:00 thqms3 snort: IDS126/x11_Outgoing_Xterm: 212.30.119.109:6000 -> 63.80.88.42:33248

To install first run install.sh

After running install.sh you may edit the portscan.conf file in /etc/portscan and the keywords file. After making any necassary changes you will need to add the following lines into your logcheck.sh file

/usr/sbin/portscan.pl &
cat $TMPDIR/checkoutput.$$ > $TMPDIR/portscan.log

So your logcheck.sh file should now look like this (toward the bottom)

Titlebar Tweaks 1.8.3.7

Allows you to tweak your browsers titlebar text more>>
Titlebar Tweaks 1.8.3.7 is yet another excellent utility you should not miss. It is actually a Firefox extension that allows you to tweak your browsers titlebar text.

If you always use a single Firefox window, opening all new pages in tabs, you probably don't care much about displaying the current tabs page title in the window titlebar. Titlebar Tweaks enables you to customize your window titlebar to do the following:

  • Display the browser name before the page title
  • Display only the browser name or page title
  • Replace the browser name in the titlebar with your own text

Major Features:

  1. Compatible with Mozilla Firefox 2.0.
  2. Enables you to switch the order of the browser name and document title in the browser's titlebar, or remove one of the two entries.
  3. Allows you to change the browser name in the titlebar.

Enhancements:

  • Added "Blank Page" to display for web page titles that are blank.

Requirements:

  • Mozilla Firefox

CGI::Application::Generator 1.0

CGI::Application::Generator 1.0

CGI::Application::Generator is a Perl module with dynamically build CGI::Application modules. more>>
CGI::Application::Generator is a Perl module with dynamically build CGI::Application modules.

SYNOPSIS

use CGI::Application::Generator;

# Required methods
my $cat = CGI::Application::Generator->new();
$cat->package_name(My::Widget::Browser);
$cat->start_mode(list_widgets);
$cat->run_modes(qw/
list_widgets
add_widget
insert_widget
edit_widget
update_widget
delete_widget
/);

# Optional methods
$cat->base_module(My::CGI::Application);
$cat->use_modules(qw/My::DBICreds My::Utilities/);
$cat->new_dbh_method(My::DBICreds->new_dbh());
$cat->tmpl_path(Path/To/My/Templates/);

# Output-related methods
$cat->app_module_tmpl(my_standard_cgiapp.tmpl);
$cat->output_app_module();

CGI::Application::Generator provides a means by which a CGI::Application module can be created from code, as opposed to being written by hand. The goal of this module is two-fold:

1. To ease the creation of new CGI::Application modules.
2. To allow standardization of CGI::Application coding
styles to be more uniformly applied.

It is also the hope of this module that Computer Assisted Software Engineering (CASE) tools will eventually emerge which will allow the development process for web-based applications to be greatly improved. These CASE tools could more easily convert visual notation (such as UML state-transition diagrams) into method calls to this module, thereby creating actual code.

PVRec 0.10

PVRec 0.10

PVRec is a simple applet written in Gambas that takes an MPEG-2 stream from the pvrusb driver. more>>
PVRec is a simple applet written in Gambas that takes an MPEG-2 stream from the pvrusb driver for the Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB and allows you to simultaneously view (using Mplayer) and record it.

PVRec is basically the smallest amount of code I could write to let myself easily record video using the PVR USB without doing so blindly. In the future I hope to include more PVR-esque features like scheduled recording, basic format conversions (i.e. Divx/Xvid
instead of MPEG-2) and maybe better mplayer automation, but this should at least let you get the job done as far as getting video into your computer. In essence, PVRec is nothing but a GUI with three pipes.

If you have any problems capturing video with it, e.g. a blank mplayer window or mplayer never comes up at all or the bytes received counter never increases, try the following:

cat /dev/usb/lp0 >myvideo.mpg

and see if that lets you get any video either. If it doesnt, then its a problem with the driver or your PVR USB, and not this program. If it does, well, theres a reason I made this version 0.1.

PVRec requires Gambas, which I have packaged for Mandrake Linux and which is available at http://gambas.sf.net. The pvrusb driver is available at http://pvrusb.sf.net. If you plan on viewing the video while you record it, youll need mplayer as well; if you dont have a prebuilt version of mplayer for your Linux distribution, I have to pity you and hope mplayer is easier to build than it used to be.

CatDCD 4.0

CatDCD 4.0

CatDCD it concatenates molecular dynamics trajectory files in the DCD format. more>>
CatDCD project functions much like the Unix "cat" command: it concatenates DCD files into a single DCD file. You can also use catdcd to write only selected atoms to the final DCD file.
Main features:
- catdcd functions much like the Unix "cat" command: it concatenates DCD files into a single DCD file.
- It also allows the user to specify which atoms and which frames should be written into the output file; thus DCDs can be split as well as combined.
Unpack the distribution package. A directory named catdcd will be created.
Enter that directory and type "make". To use a different compiler or compile
flags, edit the first three definitions in the Makefile.
Usage
catdcd -o [-i ] [-first first] [-last last]
[-stride stride] ...
OR
catdcd -num ...
-o : Specify the output file for CatDCD. Required, unless -num
is present (see below).
-num: When present, no output file will be written. Instead, CatDCD prints
the number of frames in each file, then exits.
-i :
should contain the (zero-based) indices of the atoms in the
dcd files whose coordinates are to appear in the output file. The indices
should be ASCII text, separated by whitespace.
-first first: Specify the first frame to be written to the output file.
Default is 1 (write starting from the first frame read).
-last last: Specify the last frame to write. Default is the last frame in
the last file.
-stride stride: Specify how many frames to skip when writing. Default is 1
(dont skip any frames).
The input files may be any combination of charmm or xplor format, and big-
or little-endianness. However, they must all have the same number of atoms.
The code uses only standard C library commands and should thus be portable to
pretty much anywhere, including non-Unix platforms (I havent tested this ;-)
DCDs with fixed atoms will not work properly. (FIXED in version 3.0).
Enhancements:
- This version is based on the VMD plugin source tree and includes all of the file format support provided by the VMD plugins.
