Clonator ICON 0.2.1

Clonator ICON is a service menu for KDE which can make easy clone, delete and view the icons in your folder theme icons. more>>
Clonator ICON is a service menu for KDE which can make easy clone, delete and view the icons in your folder theme icons with four new actions in Konqueror:

1. Clone icon: Make a copy of the current selecction (one or more files)

But, only at smaller destinations, by example: If your select one icon of 64x64 pixel in APPS, the script make the 32x32/apps version, 22x22/apps version and 16x16/apps version in the same folder, but not the 128x128 and other larger versions.

2. Trash smaller icons: (previous confirmation dialog) Move at the Trash the other smaller icons. By example, if you select the file 64x64/apps/konqueror.png, the script move to Trash the files 32x32/apps/konqueror.png , 22x22/apps/konqueror.png, but not the files 128x128/apps/konqueror.png and larger versions

3. Trash others icons: (previous confirmation dialog) Move to the Trash ALL the other files, except the current selection. By example, if you select the file 64x64/apps/konqueror.png, the script move to Trahs the files apps/konqueror.png in 128x128 96x96 72x72 56x56 48x48 32x32 22x22 16x16.

USE THIS OPTION WITH CARE, or you dont want to visit your trash...

4. View clones: Show in a pasive popup all icons called like the current selecction in the "size folders": 128x128 96x96 72x72 64x64 56x56 48x48 32x32 22x22 16x16. Take a look at captura.png in tar file.

Google Picasa for Linux 2.2.2820-5

Google Picasa for Linux 2.2.2820-5

Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. more>>
Picasa project is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organised by date with folder names you will recognise.

You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organised.

Picasa also makes advanced editing simple by putting one-click fixes and powerful effects at your fingertips. And Picasa makes it a snap to share your pictures - you can email, print photos home, make gift CDs, and even post pictures on your own blog.

Toward the very end, everything was looking great except that the initial assumption that most cameras emulate storage devices turned out to be wrong. Fortunately, Marcus Meissner just happened to decide to implement libgphoto support; his patch appeared at the perfect moment, and now Picasa supports both common flavors of cameras.

Two features left out of the Linux version were CD-ROM burning (the driver Picasa uses is hard to support under Wine) and movie playback (Wine doesnt have the necessary codecs). Both are potentially fixable in a future version, but were beyond the scope of this first port.

One interesting challenge when shipping commercial apps for Linux is packaging -- do you choose RPM or Debian packages, or do you use a WIndows-style installer? The Picasa for Linux team chose all three, in hopes of pleasing everybody. (Lets see how well *that* works :-) The Windows-style installer was implemented using the open-source Loki installer, and a few patches were contributed back for that, too.

ax25-apps 0.5.5

ax25-apps 0.5.5

The ax25-apps package contains programs for the hamradio protocol AX.25 that would be used by normal users . more>>
This is the home page for the ax25 utilities for amateur radio operators. These utilities work with the Linux kernel though there is no reason why they couldnt be ported to other operating systems as well with some effort.
AX.25 is a network protocol that is used for wireless networks. Generally when you want to use a network protocol, you require two things:
Operating System Support: Linux has had AX.25, Net/ROM and ROSE support for some time now.
Utilities: These manipulate or communicate with the operating system to either setup things or use the protocol.
The set of packages fit the second requirement. The packages have been split into three to make support and development easier.
The applications are a set of programs that use the protocols, as opposed to being required for setting things up. The applications are like the client and server programs, to be used by either the system administrator or a normal user.
Enhancements:
- New rosedump.c from Jean-Paul.
- Changes to ax25rtd from Hubert F5LCT for problems with kernel 2.2.13
- Fix for ax25rtd in VC mode
- Patch from Hans to work better with newer GCCs
- doc dirs are now relocatable
- Added Jens patches
- Adapted ax25rtd to new kernel-ax25. ax25-learn-only-mine has to be set to "true" for all interfaces to work right now.
- Note that this is only a temporary solution.
- Made new-ax25-stack ready (listen, ax25rtd). Will still work with old kernel-AX25 but need recompile.
- New program, ax25mond

Powerbox for Gtk 1.15

Powerbox for Gtk 1.15

Powerbox for Gtk is a patch to Gtk which replaces its GtkFileChooserDialog. more>>
Powerbox for Gtk is a patch to Gtk which replaces its GtkFileChooserDialog
Powerbox is a normal file chooser dialog box, except that it dynamically grants the application the right to access the file that the user picks.
This helps provide security because the application can be run without needing access to all the users files. Powerbox-for-Gtk patches Gtk to replace GtkFileChooserDialog with a powerbox.
It is based on Plash, which provides a restricted execution environment on Linux.
Enhancements:
- Add gtk-powerbox.c: an LD_PRELOADed patch to Gtk to replace the GtkFileChooserDialog interface so that it calls Plashs powerbox.
- Rename "plash" executable to "pola-shell".
- fs-operations.c: Add log method. Add an "end" log message when the fs_op object is dropped.
- gettextization
- make.sh: Add "-Wl,-z,relro" when linking ld.so. Fixes obscure problem when dlopen()ing libraries that might require an executable stack.
- Intercept getsockname() so that it returns the correct pathname for Unix domain sockets. Extended the g_fds array in libc so that it can contain these pathnames. It is now an array of "struct libc_fd"s, rather than an array of "cap_t"s. libc-fds.h: New file. libc-misc.c: Introduced fds_resize(), fds_slot_clear(). Changed open(), close(), dup2(), etc. libc-connect.c: Add getsockname() and change connect() and bind().
- Reason: I discovered that gconfd2 (or possibly Orbit) was relying on getsockname() returning the pathname that it earlier passed to bind(). This meant that Gnumeric was unable to spawn a gconf process itself, and it produced loads of errors.
- fs-operations.c, libc-misc.c: Fixed fstat() to return the correct information on directory FDs. Added the fsop_dir_fstat method to implement this.
- build-fs-dynamic.c: Implement link() and rename() methods. This is needed for when GNOME and KDE apps hard link files inside $HOME.
- filesysobj-real.c: Changes to allow rename and hard link calls of the form rename("dir/foo1", "dir/foo2") to work.
- The problem: The real_dir_rename and real_dir_link methods only work in the same-directory case; their test was a pointer comparison on real_dir objects. However, resolving a directory pathname like "dir" always returns a new real_dir object. This meant that the rename() call wouldnt work when you use full pathnames.
- This was causing some failures. eg. Konqueror wouldnt start: some code relied on creating "$HOME/.ICEauthority-l" as a hard link to "$HOME/.ICEauthority-c".
- The partial solution: Change the same-directory check to compare inode and device number of directory, after trying a pointer comparison.

JACK Timemachine 0.3.1

JACK Timemachine 0.3.1

JACK Timemachine is a tool that can record occasional bursts of interesting noise from jack apps. more>>
JACK Timemachine is a tool that can record occasional bursts of interesting noise from jack apps.

I used to always keep a minidisc recorder in my studio running in a mode where when you pressed record it wrote the last 10 seconds of audio to the disk and then caught up to realtime and kept recording.

The recorder died and havent been able to replace it, so this is a simple jack app to do the same job. It has the advantage that it never clips and can be wired to any part of the jack graph.

The idea is that I doodle away with whatever is kicking around in my studio and when I heard an interesting noise, Id press record and capture it, without having to try and recreate it.

It seems to be stable for me, but there could be threading issues and race condidtions if run without SCHED_FIFO (ie. without jackd -R).

Native Resolution Fix for Widescreen Monitors 1.0

Native Resolution Fix for Widescreen Monitors 1.0

Native Resolution Fix for Widescreen Monitors is a little script that changes your widescreen monitor resolution in one click. more>>
Native Resolution Fix for Widescreen Monitors is a little script that changes your widescreen monitor resolution in one click.
It couldnt get much more simpler than this little script/command. Anyhow, theres a few apps that would screw up my resolution after they exited and rather than look into it at the moment, I just googled to see if there was a quick command to execute that would change the resolution. So I found it, added that command to my KDE menu, then made a shortcut to it (ctrl + r) so I have a push-button resolution fix, which I recommend you do as its quite handy.
Anyhow, place Native Resolution Fix.desktop on your desktop but DO NOT USE it if you have a monitor with a smaller resolution. Instead, you can edit it and change the resolution to what you like and use the "-r" command to set the hertz, which will use one of the rates set in your xorg.conf.
Enhancements:
- NOTE: Please edit if your monitor doesnt support the 1680x1050 resolution in this script or do not use it.
- I am not responsible if your monitor, in a rare case, gets messed up by you using a resolution in which your monitor cant support.
