Apache Gump

Apache Gump

Gump is Apaches continuous integration tool. more>>
Gump is Apaches continuous integration tool. Apache Gump is written in python and fully supports Apache Ant, Apache Maven and other build tools. Gump is unique in that it builds and compiles software against the latest development versions of those projects. This allows gump to detect potentially incompatible changes to that software just a few hours after those changes are checked into the version control system. Notifications are sent to the project team as soon as such a change is detected, referencing more detailed reports available online.

You can set up and run Gump on your own machine and run it on your own projects, however it is currently most famous for building most of Apaches java-based projects and their dependencies (which constitutes several million lines of code split up into hundreds of projects). For this purpose, the gump project maintains its own dedicated server.

How does Gump work?

With Traditional Gump, project definitions are converted from XML to scripts native to the platform on which you are running. With Python Gump the XML is mapped into in memory objects for processing. Scripts execute cvs or svn update commands for every module which contains a project being built, and invoke builds for each project in an order that ensures that dependencies are satisfied. Build outputs are processed and, if successful, dependent projects are then built on these outputs.

The commands use the actual build.xml files from the projects, but do not use the scripts or jar files checked into CVS/SVN. Instead, the CLASSPATH is set and properties are passed on the command line.

Note

Gump sets Ants build.sysclasspath to only and manages the system classpath:
To quote Ant: Only the system classpath is used and classpaths specified in build files, etc are ignored. This situation could be considered as the person running the build file knows more about the environment than the person writing the build file

The net effect is that every project is built every day with the latest version of every dependency - including the latest Ant, latest JUnit, latest XML parser.

The results are captured into html pages that largely are consistent with the style of the Jakarta project. An extensive amount of hypertext links are added to allow quick and easy navigation, and failures are color coded on the main build page.

A Perl script which is driven off of a naglist will optionally send e-mails to various newsgroups upon matching strings being found in the build output. This is typically used to alert developers of build failures.

Apache Portals

Apache Portals

Apache Portals provides robust Portal related software on a wide variety of platforms. more>>
Apache Portals is a collaborative software development project dedicated to providing robust, full-featured, commercial-quality, and freely available Portal related software on a wide variety of platforms and programming languages.

This project is managed in cooperation with various individuals worldwide (both independent and company-affiliated experts), who use the Internet to communicate, plan, and develop Portal software and related documentation.

Modern software is complex and expensive, which has motivated many companies to invest in enterprise portals as a mechanism by which they can manage information in a cohesive and structured fashion.

Portals offer many advantages over other software applications. First, they provide a single point of entry for employees, partners, and customers. Second, portals can access Web services transparently from any device in virtually any location. Third, portals are highly flexible; they can exist in the form of B2E intra-nets, B2B extra-nets, or B2C inter-nets. Fourth, portals can be combined to form a portal network that can span a companys entire enterprise system, allowing for access both inside and outside the firewall.

Portals have many advantages, which is why they have become the de facto standard for Web application delivery. In fact, analysts have predicted that portals will become the next generation for the desktop environment.

Portals distinguish themselves from other software systems because they provide the ability to integrate disparate systems and leverage the functionality provided by those systems. As such, they are not mutually exclusive, and do not force you into an either-or decision vis-a-vis existing software systems. This point is of paramount importance, particularly when you consider the fact that Web services are destined to fuel the explosion of Web applications. Since portals can access any Web services, the conclusion is inescapable: portals provide a unique opportunity to leverage the functionality of nascent technologies as well as mature, well-established software systems.

Apache::Wyrd 0.94

Apache::Wyrd 0.94

Apache::Wyrd is a Perl module for HTML embeddable perl objects under mod_perl. more>>
Apache::Wyrd is a Perl module for HTML embeddable perl objects under mod_perl.

Apache::Wyrd is the core module in a collection of interoperating modules that allow the rapid object-oriented development of web sites in Apaches mod_perl environment (LAMP). This collection includes a very flexible, HTML-friendly method of defining dynamic items on a web page, and interfacing directly to perl objects with them. It comes with many pre-built objects to support a web site such as an authentication module, an reverse-lookup database, granular debugging, and smart forms/inputs and their interfaces to a DBI-compliant SQL application.

The collection is not meant to be a drop-in replacement for PHP, ColdFusion, or other server-side parsed content creation systems, but to provide a more flexible framework for organic custom perl development for an experienced perl programmer who favors an object-oriented approach. It has been designed to simplify the transition from static to dynamic web content by allowing the design of objects that can be operated by a non-perl programmer through the modification of the HTML page on which the content is to be delivered.

The Apache::Wyrd module itself is an abstract class used to create HTML-embeddable perl objects (Wyrds). The embedded objects are interpreted from HTML files by an instance of the abstract class Apache::Wyrd::Handler. Most Wyrds also require an instance of an Apache::Wyrd::DBL object to store connection information and to provide intermediary access to the Apache request and any DBI-style database interfaces.
Each Wyrd has a corresponding perl module which performs work and generates output at the Wyrds location on the HTML page, if any. Each of these objects is a derived class of Apache::Wyrd, and consequently draws on the existing methods of the abstract class as well as implements methods of its own. A few "hook" methods (_setup, _format_output, and _generate_output in particular) are defined in the abstract class for this purpose.

The modules in this distribution are not meant to be used directly. Instead, instances of the objects are created in another namespace (in all POD synopses called BASENAME, but it can be any string acceptable as a single namespace of a perl class) where the Handler object has been configured to use that namespace in interpreting HTML pages (see Apache::Wyrd::Handler).

Apache DSSI 1.0.0

Apache DSSI 1.0.0

Apache DSSI is a SSI extention for calling Dynamic function. more>>
Apache DSSI is a SSI extention for calling Dynamic function.

By using this extentions to mod_include, you can make your own function for SSI (Server Side Includes) and you can call your function with SSI directives. This solution is based on mod_so and mod_include. By using DSSI, you can integrate your CGI easily and make your CGI faster than any other CGI accelerator.

Installation:

Download and compile Apache 1.3.X
Simply download dssi_1.0.0.tar.gz
Unzip and untar.
Replace apache_1.3.X/src/modules/standard/mod_include.c with this mod_include.c
Configure.
./configure --enable-module=include
If your binary type is ELF,
LDFLAGS="-export-dynamic" ./configure --enable-module=include
Compile and install apache.

Enabling DSSI

By using LoadDSSI directive, you can load your dynamic functions. Later one override earlier ones. It means, you can only call functions of the last one with DSSI directive.

AddType text/html .shtml
AddHandler server-parsed .shtml
LoadDSSI libexec/dssi_util.so
LoadDSSI libexec/dssi.so
