LogMiner 1.20

LogMiner 1.20

LogMiner is a powerful log analysis package for Apache. more>>
LogMiner is a powerful log analysis package for Apache (or other web servers using the combined log format).
LogMiner can extract and present several reports, about visits, hits, traffic, requests, navigation paths, browsers and OSs used by users and so on.
Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database, using a schema which has been optimized to reduce redundancy at minimum.
LogMiner has been inspired by the popular Webalizer package, but it differs in certain core points:
data is stored in a DBMS backend and reports are generated on-the-fly, while Webalizer generates plain html files. A DBMS allows to extract and aggregate data in many ways, whenever you need. A drawback is that you wont have the processing speed of Webalizer when parsing log files.
Webalizer only indexes the last 12 months of data: previous reports are still on disk, but arent accessible from any link. This is the most annoying thing of Webalizer, in my opinion: Im sick of having hundreds of unused files around
LogMiner allows to navigate to previous months easily.
Webalizer reports are hardcoded in the program. LogMiner implements reports in a more extensible way. Each report is in fact a simple PHP class, usually supported by a PL/pgSQL function (although youre free to insert your SQL queries in the PHP code if you like).
LogMiner offers more reports than Webalizer: for instance, the OS charts and the navigation graphs.
Depending on your needs, you might prefer LogMiner over Webalizer, especially if you like having a central SQL repository for your data which enables you to extract the data you need at any time, or to add a kind of report which wasnt planned from the start and apply it to older data.
If you dont have a PostgreSQL database or you expect to process huge log files in seconds, go for Webalizer.
Enhancements:
- This release adds support for libpqxx 2.6.9.
- SQL errors are now logged and dont interrupt the parsing of log files.

X-Chat NewsWindow 1.0

X-Chat NewsWindow 1.0

X-Chat NewsWindow is a perl script for X-Chat. more>>
X-Chat NewsWindow is a perl script for X-Chat (or X-Chat Aqua) implements one of those annoying announcer scripts that announce your currently playing audio track in iTunes or your current audio or video track in VLC to your IRC channel because you feel for some reason that everyone wants to know.

I basically consider this script to be a better counterattack than just abusing the annoying mIRC users and getting the usual ignorant "pfft. sif mac" response. Since VLCs meta-data support leaves a bit to be desired, it obtains the album name from the containing folders name and the track name from the filename (minus the extension). This works quite well if you have a well labelled music collection. Note: If you use this script, exercise discretion. Not everyone cares what youre listening to.

To use this, you must first turn on logging in VLC. To do this, open VLCs preferences, and under the "Interface > Control Interfaces" preference page, tick the "File Logging" option. Then under the "Interface > Control Interfaces > Logging" page, enter "/tmp/vlc_log.txt" as the log filename. You can choose a different name or location if you wish, but if you do, change the path definition to it in the vlc_announce function below. You may have to choose the "Add Interface > Debug Logging" menu option (under the VLC menu) if VLC hasnt already turned it on via the preferences change.

Authentic 0.7.1

Authentic 0.7.1

Authentic is a Liberty-enabled identity provider aiming to address a broad range of needs, from simple to complex setups. more>>
Authentic project is a Liberty-enabled identity provider aiming to address a broad range of needs, from simple to complex setups.
Its Liberty compliance relies on Lasso, a free softaware implementation of the Liberty Alliance specifications. It is a quixote application and is commonly run inside the Apache Web server.
Main features:
Liberty conformance
While not certified itself Authentic implements Liberty protocols through the use of Lasso that has been certified as conformat to Liberty specifications in May 2005. Authentic implements every feature required by the Identity Provider Conformance Matrix.
Additionally it has several extra features; for example it can act as a proxy identity provider, redirecting requests from service providers to other identity providers; or sharing identity attributes through ID-WSF Personal Profile (with an appropriate version of Lasso).
Performance
The underlying components are quite fast and Authentic doesnt slow things down. There are no hard measure yet but a quick benchmark using ab (from Apache) yielded more than 200 requests per second on my development laptop (Centrino 1.5GHz, 1GB RAM).
Ease of Administration
Authentic has a nice and useful web administrative interface; it provides convenient identity management and log analysis. It also has its share of parameters so it adapts to different needs without any code change.
Enhancements:
- This release fixes minor but annoying issues with 0.7.0 (error display and translations).

ePloy 1.0

ePloy 1.0

ePloy project is a eBay price plotter. more>>
ePloy project is a eBay price plotter. This means it can analyze ended Auctions either inputted by the user or imported from myEbay (more methods like regex import, etc. will follow).
ePloy will take this list of AuctionIDs and check whether the Auctions have already ended and writes the endingprice into a Database. This "check" could be run as a cronjob for example. From this Database again you can generate graphs and display various information about the Auctions.
The main thing you have to know is: you need several ebay developer keys and a token. but dont run away - its not as bad as it sounds.
You can get all those keys at stuff http://developer.ebay.com/ - for free!
Its not as annoying as it may sound - although it _is_ a bit annoying. The developer.ebay.com site should be selfexplaining. first get your account with your three keys, then fill out the self certification form, get another 3 keys (enter those in ebay.ini ... see ebay.ini.example) and finally specify your regular ebay user account to the
developer.ebay.com website and finally get your token (kinda long - few lines)
By the way - no worries. this tool cannot destroy any ebay data or accidentially bid on something. even with the token you need to fill out another certification form (oh hell!) to get "write" access to ebay from the api.
Enhancements:
- This release is usable, but currently only on Unix.
- Windows support is still to come with the new plotter.

AxKit2::Plugin 1.1

AxKit2::Plugin 1.1

AxKit2::Plugin is a base class for all plugins. more>>
AxKit2::Plugin is a base class for all plugins.

An AxKit2 plugin allows you to hook into various parts of processing requests and modify the behaviour of that request. This class is the base class for all plugins and this document covers both the details of the base class, and the available hooks and the consequences the return codes for those hooks have.

See "AVAILABLE HOOKS" for the hooks, and "API" for the API provided to all plugins.
WRITING A SIMPLE PLUGIN ^

Most plugin authors should start at AxKit2::Docs::WritingPlugins. However a hook consists of the following things:

An init() method for initialising state.
A register() method for registering hooks outside of the default naming scheme.
A number of conf_*() methods to define configuration directives.
A number of hook_*() methods to implement your hooks.
Any number of helper methods.

Although plugins are classes, they do not need the usual perl extra stuff such as a package declaration, a constructor (such as new()), nor do they require the annoying "1;" at the end of the file. AxKit2 adds those things in for you.
All plugins are simple blessed hashes.

Fenice 1.10

Fenice 1.10

Fenice is a standards-compliant multimedia streaming server. more>>
Fenice is a multimedia streaming server compliant with the IETFs standards for real-time streaming of multimedia contents over Internet. Fenice implements RTSP - Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RFC2326) and RTP/RTCP - Real-Time Transport Protocol/RTP Control Protocol (RFC3550) supporting the RTP Profile for Audio and Video Conferences with Minimal Control (RFC3551).
Fenice supports the following encoding standards:
Audio
- MP3 (MPEG-1 Layer III) (RFC3119)
- OGG/Vorbis (work in progress)
Video
- MPEG-1/2 (RFC2250)
- Preliminary support for MPEG-4 (RFC3016, RFC3640)
- OGG/Theora (work in progress)
The main characteristic of Fenice is that it is adaptable to the state of the network gotten through the technique of the dynamic coding change.
Fenice is also able to manage live streaming sessions using external real-time audio/video encoders such as lame, ffmpeg or mjpeg-tools, even capturing audio and video streams from live-recording remote hosts (with Felice - Fenice Live CEaseless).
Fenice is the worlds first streaming server supporting Creative Commons licensing meta-data for audio/video streaming.
Enhancements:
- Log support via file or sysconfig was added.
- MPEG-4 support was finished, and works best for stored contents.
- The annoying 100% CPU bug was fixed.
- Fenice should now run smoothly and reliably in almost every condition.
- Various bugs were fixed.
- Fenice is GCC4 compatible.

Ogham 0.1.3

Ogham 0.1.3

Ogham is designed to be a wiki like cms for non technical users. more>>
Ogham project is designed to be a wiki like cms for non technical users. The emphasis is on ease of use over features. Non technical users have difficulty with any markup language so I felt a WYSIWYG editor was essential.
Word users find wiki syntax and the automatic generation of links to be annoying so I have replaced this with a tree structure for navigation and easy linking within the site.
Ogham has currently been tested on linux and windows servers and with the firefox 1.0+, IE 6 and Konqueror 3.3.2 browsers.
Its highly unlikely that it will work bug free with any other browsers, but I am working on support for Safari. In KHTML (Konqueror & Safari) based browsers WYSIWYG editing has only recently become available and I am working to support them.
This system has been ported to Snakelets after initially being developed with webware. Snakelets has the advantage of an integrated webserver and better documentation (IMHO). A large part of its advantage may simply have been that it resembles tomcat and I come from a java background.
Enhancements:
- The rename option has been added to the context menu.
- There are miscellaneous minor bugfixes.
