I wanted a batch version of Ethereal in Perl, so I could:
- sift through parsed protocols with structured filters
- write custom reports that mixed events from multiple protocols

The General Stream Manipulation Platform (GSMP) aims to become for sound what The GIMP is for graphics.
Some years ago, there had been a lack of useable audio-software for Linux - especially for a good multitrack wave-editor - so we decided to write a gtk-- based one that is available under the terms of the GPL.
Now we focus on building a complete and open-source Virtual Studio environment for Linux:
GSMP Studio will feature both MIDI and DSP/Audio as well as beeing open for other kind of data.
It is intended to become a powerfull framework for the user to assemble his own "virtual studio" within the application from various components (like multitrack hd-recorder, midi-sequencer, synth and signalprocessors).
Other than most commercial applications of this kind, the hd-recorder and midi-sequencer will not be the neccessary components of this studio, and setups without them will be possible. For example GSMP can be used as a synthesizer or multi-effect-proccessor in live-setups.
Main features:
- Non-destructive editing: All action on the audio data can be made undone. So you can play around with the effects without modifying any bit of your original data file.
- Multi-threaded design: GSMP is multi-threaded. Especially the the wave-plots and the FXs are generated in a background thread and the UI keeps interactive!
- Internal sample-format: 24/8 bit fixed-point arithmetic is used to allow overflows with no acurrany loss.
- Internal sample-index: 64 bit indexes are used to allow live takes even at 96kHz DVD quality.
- Track count: The track count is not limitted. Also multi-track recording is supported, too. In fact we used GSMP-Editor to record 10 channels with the MIDIMAN Delta 1010 two month ago!!! (BTW: 2-8% CPU load on an Athlon 600Mhz ...)
- Realtime effect prehearing: Most effects can be pre-heared during playback!
- Supported import-formats: Currently MS-Wave, Ogg/Vorbis and MP3 (experimental!!!) are supported. Decompression is done on-the-fly!
- Supported export-formats: Currently only Wave is supported.
- Current effects: Fadings, graphical-eq, some IIR filters, compressor, noise-gate, de-click and reverb.
- The editor has multi-selections. This means you can select non-continous regions (that can be cutted or pasted) - like in The GIMP. You have to press the "Shift" or "Strg" key while moving the mouse for this.
- To enable the OSS plugin when ALSA is also compiled you have to add "--oss" on the command line. (The next release will contain a real dialog to change this ...)
- The two button in the lower-left corner of the main-window are "Follow Current Position" and "Follor IO Position" to let the view automatikally follow a marker ;-)
- When you load (import) a file the zoom is not changed. So you might not see a wave, because the zoom is still 1:1 -> simply zoom out a bit.
- To speed-up GSMP you should pipe all the debugging informations into the "null-device": "gsmp > /dev/null"

Sequence Analysis project is a collage of coding projects which I have written over the past several years for various clients in my work as a bioinformatics consultant.
These clients have graciously allowed me to release these works into the public domain as freeware for Macintosh OS X in order to promote the platform and to encourage migration from Classic.
The upper window panel can hold several sequences, which are both editable and selectable. The tabs in the lower analysis panel try to keep up with the current sequence selection to provide immediate feedback. The selection is used in some modules as only the portion being analyzed for other modules i.e. Digest is used to determine if enzymes cut in the in or outside of the selection.
Most commonly available sequence formats have been reverse engineered. You can also access a sequences from the NCBI via its GID or UID. This currently cannot be done from behind a firewall.
Most of the analyses are simple enough that they are obvious to use, Composition, pI. Others could stand some documenation i.e. Pairwise and Primer Design. The Publish tab uses a string to control the layout. Click on the Legend button for some help.

- Extension of the Eclipse value proposition The Eclipse Project has set a high standard for technical excellence, functional innovation and overall extensibility within the Java IDE domain. We intend to apply these same standards to the Web/J2EE application-tooling domain.
- Vendor ecosystem A major goal of this project is to support a vital application development tools market. Its exemplary functionality will be useful on its own but it will be designed from the start to be extensible so commercial vendors can use what this project delivers as a foundation for their own product innovation and development efficiency.
- Vendor neutrality Vendor neutrality will be at the core of this project. We aim to encourage Eclipse participation and drive Eclipse market acceptance by strengthening the long-term product value propositions of the widest possible range of application development vendors.

Network Security Analysis Tool is a fast, stable bulk security scanner designed to audit remote network services and check for versions, security problems, gather information about the servers and the machine, and much more.
A manpage providing extensive information on NSAT has been included in the distribution. It is available after a make install, or just by typing man doc/nsat.8 from this dir. It is suggested that you inform yourself at least about the -v (scan verbosity) option and edit the configuration file. To learn about changes in this version, please consult doc/CHANGES.
New to this version is support for distributed scanning. The manpage describes how to do a distributed scan. Note that distributed scanning in this version is just a preliminary, proof-of-concept, implementation with no guarantees for its security, reliability, or performance.

This class transforms the token stream as per the Porter stemming algorithm.
Note: the input to the stemming filter must already be in lower case, so you will need to use LowerCaseFilter or LowerCaseTokenizer farther down the Tokenizer chain in order for this to work properly!
The Porter Stemmer implements Porter Algorithm for normalization of English words by stripping their extensions and is used to generalize the searches. For example, the Porter algorithm maps both search and searching (as well as searchnessing) to search such that a query for search will also match documents that contains the word searching.
Note that the Porter algorithm is specific to the English language and may give unpredictable results for other languages. Also, make sure to use the same analyzer during the indexing and the searching.
