Lien Mp3 Player is a mp3 and audio cd player for GNU Linux console.
All you need is a Pentium 90 or faster computer (you can do mono output if you have slower computer), GNU Library 2.0 or above and ncurses 5.
The project was improved many many times by recommendation of users. Now it is even better than the one I have plan to do in the first place.

Dynamic MP3 Lister was a project I started a long time ago to create dynamic lists of MP3s quickly and easily.

Features MP3 Information extraction for things like bitrate, channels, playtime and more.

Apache::MP3::Resample subclasses Apache::MP3::Playlist to allow the user to downsample audio files before streaming them. This allows users on slower connections to stream songs. When this module is installed, a menu of bitrates is presented in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The user can choose from one of the bitrates, or select a mode that performs no resampling. The selected bitrate is maintained in a persistent cookie so that resampling is performed whenever the user returns to the site.

This module requires a command-line MP3 encoder to resample and reencode the audio data. If not otherwise specified, Apache::MP3::Resample will try to use the Open Source Lame MP3 encoder. This utility is available at http://www.sulaco.org/mp3. Version 3.90 was used during the development of this module. Your results with other versions may vary.

When you install Lame (or the encoder of your choice), be sure to place it in a directory located in Apaches PATH so that the module can find them at run time. You may need to set the PATH environment variable during Apaches launch, or by explicitly adding a SetEnv directive to the Apache configuration file.

You should be aware that the decoding/reencoding process is CPU-intensive, and server performance may degrade as the number of simultaneous users increases.

Bundle::MP3 is a bundle to install all MP3-related modules.

This bundle installs a bunch of modules related to sharing and playing MP3 files, including MP3::Info by Chris Sandor, MP3::Napster, by Lincoln Stein, and the Xmms bundle by Doug MacEachern.

AutoRip is a non-interactive, non-intrusive mp3 rip-and-encode front end. Simply drop your CD into your CD-ROM drive, wait for your CD to eject, wash, rinse, and repeat.

PyMM is an MP3 Manager written in Python. With it you can easily create playlists, edit ID3 tags and search your collection.
I used to use the windows program MP3 Manager to manage my MP3s. I have since migrated my MP3 collection to Unix, and I therefore needed something similar on that platform. The project also gave me an opportunity to get aquainted with wxPython, which I must say is a quite suberb windowing toolkit.
You can use the program to manage your collection, create playlists, control the XMMS player, edit ID3 tags and so forth.
You can install the program in two ways:
1. run "python setup.py install". This requires write access to the python installation tree. It will install a startup script in the python bin directory. Then just type "pymm" to start the program.
This requires Python 2.0/1.6 or that you have Distutils installed.
2. Just put this directory somewhere and start the program with "python pymm.py". I made a link to the pymm.py script in a bin directory (i.e something like "ln -s /pymm.py /usr/local/bin/pymm").
