Ixion media player 0.2
Ixion is a media player that uses wxWidgets and GStreamer. more>>
Ixion is a media player that uses wxWidgets and GStreamer. Its is just a simple video player that can play at double or half speed. It can be useful as an example of how to write a simple app based on wxWidgets and/or GStreamer.
Ixion is a media player written in C/C++ using wxWidgets and GStreamer. It is not a bleeding edge, full-featured, eye-candy, all-in-one application; Ixion exists only because I needed a video player that could play at double or half speed. However, it can be useful if you want to see how to write a simple app based in wxWidgets and/or GStreamer. Source code is available for download under the GPL license.
You can download the source code from the downloads section. It will compile on most *nix systems ig there are the required libraries, including GNU/Linux.
Alternatively, you can get the source code using anonymous CVS access:
$ cvs -d:ext:anonymous@cvs.lug.fi.uba.ar:/cvsroot/ixion co ixion

The project should work with all browsers on Unix-ish systems(Linux, BSD, Solaris) and use the NS4 API (Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, etc.).

Beep Media Player 0.9.7.1
BMP Is a versatile and handy multi platform media player. more>>
BMP is a multimedia player that currently uses a skinned user interface based on Winamp 2.x skins.
The original project name was "beep". Then we discovered that another project of the same name existed, and extended it to "Beep Media Player" to distinguish the two.
This new name is of course cumbersome to type, so it was informally shortened to BMP (or sometimes BeepMP) for everyday usage. Along the way, somehow or another, some of the developers no longer recognize it as an acronym. There is still no official word on whether to drop the original form. But whatever happens, the name BMP is here to stay.
Milosz Derezynski started hacking on XMMS alone in the fall of 2003 and eventually made it compile against GTK+2. He went on to release it to the public under the name Beep and stirred up considerable interest among XMMS users who were eager to move their favourite application to GTK+2. From that moment on, the way was clear.

Gnome Multimedia Keys 0.2
Gnome Multimedia Keys is an Amarok script that will allow the use of keyboard multimedia keys in Gnome 2.18 and above. more>>
Gnome Multimedia Keys is an Amarok script that will allow the use of keyboard multimedia keys in Gnome 2.18 and above (eg. ubuntu feisty) to control playback. This includes most multimedia buttons found on many laptops. Support for this was broken due to changes in the handling of keyboard shortcuts by gnome 2.18.
Currently supported operations are:
- Play/Pause
- Pause
- Stop
- Next Track
- Previous Track
Simply run the script, no configuration of the script itself is required. The desired keyboard shortcuts can be configured by selecting "System-->Prefrences-->Keyboard Shortcuts" from the Gnome panel.

Fedora Multimedia Installation HOWTO 5.1
Fedora Multimedia Installation HOWTO will explain how to get various multimedia apps working under Fedora Core. more>>
Fedora Multimedia Installation HOWTO will explain how to get various multimedia apps working under Fedora Core.
How to get various proprietary and restricted multimedia Damned Things (AVI, Flash, Java, MP3, MPEG, QuickTime, RealMedia, Windows Media) working under Fedora Core using your normal package-management tools. Includes Firefox-plugin instructions. Now with coverage of both 32- and 64-bit Intel-architecture systems.
Unfortunately, the news in FC5 is almost all bad. Totem and Xine are both completely broken.
There are some Damned Things like enabling Java and Flash in Mozilla, playing MP3 files, playing Quicktime/AVI/RealMedia/Windows Media streams, and playing encrypted DVDs that the Fedora distro folks wont tell you how to do, either because theyre afraid of being sued under the DMCA or for various other esthetic and political reasons.
This HOWTO collects the relevant information in one place. It is not a general multimedia-on-Linux HOWTO; if it were, there are hundreds of nifty tools and packages it would list (starting with the GIMP and all its kindred and forks and symbiotes). The packages well cover here are just the legal and political hot potatoes, the stuff that threatens monopolies and worries lawyers.
