i-doIT is an IT documentation system based on ITIL guidelines. It documents IT systems and their changes, defines emergency plans, displays vital information, and helps to ensure a stable and effcient operation of IT networks.
i-doiT allows a rich amount of technical information to be filed for each element from a wall outlet to a mainframe in a structured way. Every employee can access this information easily (and in a selective way) through a Web browser.
Due to its modular architecture, it is possible to deploy functionality add-ons or even develop extensions.
Enhancements:
- A new search function was added.
- The workflow/management system was updated.
- A summary page for objects was added.
- Many bugs were fixed.

Featherweight Linux is my Live-CD installable Linux distribution that I remastered from Feather Linux, which is built on knoppix technology. Youll find some great people over at Feather and you can find some good documentation there.
Their goal is to make a light and fast Linux with a very small footprint that can be installed on USB pen drives and such. My goal is a bit different. I want a full featured Linux that isnt bloated with a kazillion gigs of crap that Ill never use. I want a small footprint that is light and fast, even on older machines, but still carries a knockout punch.
So I took Feather and stripped out a bunch of apps that I never even thought of using. I wanted to make an easy to understand desktop that was compatible and easily configurable with the latest apps being developed, so I removed all of the window managers and installed a minimal KDE 3.3 desktop.
I included the most popular internet apps like the Mozilla Suite complete with plugins, Gaim, Gftp etc... I added full printer support and wifi support. In my test environment, it automatically detects and configures both my network printer (HP PSC 1210)and my linksys wireless card. Hopefully, itll do the same for you. It is debian based so I installed Synaptic for easy upgrading and totally FREE software management. Customizing your own system with the software that you want is only a few clicks away.
In its current state, the ISO is about 240mb and the HDD install is about 700mb, which is about 1/4 of all the other overweight distros out there. Once you install it, you can install OpenOffice and a bunch of other stuff if you need it, but I just wanted to make a good solid functional base so you can build your own system if you want.
Featherweight is intended for novice users with "some" linux experience, intermediate users, and experienced linux users alike. It has a pretty straight forward install but you should know linux and HDD partitioning basics before trying to install it.

Enhancements:
- Ive upgraded e2fsprogs and e2fslibs as well as some other critical core files.
- I updated the apt sources and added abiword and acroread, as well as the acroread mozilla plugin, and I added kppp.
- I upgraded samba and switched the quick start konqueror and kde help buttons with a mozilla button and a konsole button.
- I fixed the install script where some folks were getting a blank screen after installation and added a grub install script for easy installation of grub after the initial install.

yeaGTD is an acronym for "yaml encoded approach to getting things done". The project is a python script which extracts information from simple text files, one for each project, and then produces nicely formatted summary reports.
Flexible rules can be used to specify repeated projects. Context, project and date views are supported and output can be filtered in a variety of ways. Output can optionally be printed or sent to standard output in several formats.
Commands are provided for marking tasks complete, opening files for editing and backing up project files.
YAML, a recursive acronym for "YAML Aint Markup Language", is a human readable and writable data serialization format. YAMLs contribution to yeaGTD is to make the format of the project files extremely simple both to create and to read.
Getting Things Done, commonly abbreviated as GTD, is an action management method, and the title of a extremely popular book by David Allen. GTD rests on the common sense notion that with a complete and current inventory of all commitments, organized and reviewed in a systematic way, the mind is freed from the job of remembering everything that needs to be done, and can focus on actually performing those tasks.
Suppose, for example, that the halogen bulb in the study lamp needs to be replaced. Getting this done requires first removing the old bulb, taking it with you to the hardware store to buy a similar replacement bulb and finally installing the new bulb. Though simple, this example illustrates several aspects of GTD.
1. Projects usually involve a series of steps, some of which must be carried out sequentially, e.g., the old bulb must be removed before it can be taken to the hardware store and the replacement must be purchased before it can be installed.
2. The steps of a project are carried out in a context which may vary from step to step, e.g., removing the old bulb and installing the new one both take place in the context "Home" but buying the required bulb takes place in the context "Errands".
3. While focusing on projects is great for planning, for actually doing things it would be more convenient to focus on context so that, for example, you could see all actions from all projects with context "Errands" before you drive away to run errands. To focus on what needs to be done, it would also be useful to be able to hide actions that are not yet available so that, for example, "Install new bulb" would not be displayed until "Buy required bulb" had been completed.
Enhancements:
- Unicode support has been added. encoding is set in ~/.yeagtdrc, and defaults to utf-8.
- Example project and configuration files are now included in the distribution.
- Installation instructions now include steps for getting started.
- A bug has been fixed in the file selection routine in which the last file was not listed.

Play What I Mean project allows a user to, from a single commandline or terminal, enter a string, or list of strings, that represent what he/she wishes to have played by whatsoever media player he chooses, the default being MPlayer, and then having that particular item be found and played.
What this essentially means is that if I were to have a sudden hankering to listen to a particular song or video, lets say Ice Pick by The Pillows, which happens to be the song to a particular music video that I enjoy watching. Under the traditional methods of video viewing I would be stuck with two potential courses of action for playing this particular file:
- Change directories several times to that one folder somewhere that I "know" its in, or
- Point and Click my mouse until I find that same directory and then search through what could be countless files to find it.
Each of these prospective choices have their own inherent difficulties and ire. Using the commandline often requires alot of typing to arrive at the desired directory, often times nestled deep within the tree.
Once there your problems only multiply by the number of files you actually store in your "media" folder, try ls | moreing through a heavily populated folder looking for the name of that file you wanted to play sometime, it isnt too fun and further is a waste of my valuable time.
You may be thinking at this point that the second option, the graphical one, must be easier since its exciting, full of pictures, and frankly novel, I disagree. I may not be the best judge on this matter, seeing as how I cant see out of my right eye however, I feel that scanning through a large folder, or folders, full of files is quite a strain on the vision, and more importantly an unnescesary burden on what should be a simple matter.
