Jind 1.0

Jind 1.0

Jind is an interpreter for a toy programming language. more>>
Jind is an interpreter for a toy programming language. The aim of the game is to lead a person out of a labyrinth by giving appropriate textual instructions.

The challenge is to find a general solution by using conditions and loops. Jind can be used to teach the basics of programming in an understandable, entertaining, and instructive way.

Installation

To compile the program, you need a compiler for Java. I recommend to use the Java compiler provided by Sun. Go to http://www.sun.com to download it for free. Follow the instructions in the manual to install the compiler. Then do a

cd Jind-1.0
make

to compile Jind. If anything goes wrong, open the Makefile in your favourite editor and adjust the paths to your configuration.

Open the file "jind.html" in your favourite browser. I recommend to use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0, Netscape Navigator 4.0 or Mozilla 0.9x. The applet should load now and you will see an input box immediately.

Kandid 1.0.0

Kandid 1.0.0

Kandid lets you evolve graphics using genetic algorithms. more>>
Kandid is a system to evolve graphics. Graphics, in Kandid, is not drawn by hand. Instead new forms can be found using genetic algorithms.

To achieve this aim Kandid simulates evolution using sexual reproduction and populations. But there is no fitness function in side the program. Only the user decide which images are interesting.

To simulate evolution Kandid uses crossing over, mutation, populations and has a gene data base. Image calculation is based on Lisp like expressions, Iterated Function Systems (IFS), Linear Cellular Automata (LCA), Voroni diagrams, Lindenmayer Systems (L-systems), and layered textures renderd by Persistence of Vision.

Kandid can be used as an wrapper for image generation programs. These external programs must be able to read the parameters from an file and produce the resulting image to an other file. It is not necessary to edit the parameter files by hand nor starting the program manually.

From the users view there is no distinction between build in and the external calculations. At the moment Persistence of Vision ray tracer and Scott Draves Flame IFS renderer is supported.

While Kandid is platform independent these externals renderers are written in C/C++ and compiled for an special operation system.

You must install a version appropriate to your operating system. After the installation Kandid should be able to find the external program. On Linux programs are often placed in the folders /usr/local/bin/ or /usr/bin/.

This folders are automatically parsed by the operation system. On Windows you can place the exe file in the same folder where the kandid.bat file is located.

SimpServer 2.1.0

SimpServer 2.1.0

SimpServer acts as a proxy between your IM client and the server, encrypting all conversations. more>>
SimpServer is the first lightweight instant messaging security gateway for Unix systems. Install SimpServer on a Unix system and configure IM clients on your local network, and conversations with Simp-equipped parties will be automatically encrypted. SimpServer can indeed accept simultaneous remote connections and thus secure local and/or remote clients.
With SimpServer, corporate environments can now benefit from centralized instant messenger encryption. Linux fans can now secure their MSN conversations. SimpServer is beta and is free for any use.
Main features:
- This version of SimpServer supports MSN Messenger, ICQ, Yahoo! and AIM encryption using the Diffie-Hellman key-agreement scheme. It does not currently support authenticated modes such as the RSA modes of the Windows version, nor does it support other IM protocols. That limitation brings an important advantage: SimpServer can be used as a security server for multiple IM clients, not only the one on the local machine, but others on the network. It is indeed possible to configure clients to use SimpServer as a proxy server, which will secure all outgoing IM flows.
-
-As for the Windows version, the Unix edition can be highly customized: messages can be colored depending on their cryptographic state and contact names can be prefixed during conversations (MSN) to quickly see if the conversation is secure.

Net::AIM 1.22

Net::AIM 1.22

Net::AIM is a Perl extension for AOL Instant Messenger TOC protocol. more>>
Net::AIM is a Perl extension for AOL Instant Messenger TOC protocol.

SYNOPSIS

use Net::AIM;

$aim = new Net::AIM;
$conn = $aim->newconn(Screenname => Perl AIM,
Password => yaddayadda);
$aim->start;

This module implements an OO interface to the Aol Instant Messenger TOC protocol.

This version contains not much more than hacked code that merely connects to the aol TOC servers and acts on instant messages.

METHODS

Net::AIM->new()

This is the Net::AIM constructor. No arguments needed.

$aim->debug($debug)

Set whether to print DEBUGGING information to STDERRR. Accepts $debug which should be a boolean value.

$aim->set($key, $val)

This method simply sets $key to $val in an internal hash for variables

$aim->get($key)

This method simply gets the value of $key from the internal hash

$aim->newconn()

This method creates a new AIM::Connection object

$aim->getconn()

This method returns a pointer to the AIM::Connection object

$aim->do_one_loop()

This executes one read off the socket.

$aim->start()

This just starts an infinte loop of $aim->do_one_loop;

$aim->timeout($secs);

This sets or returns the current timeout in seconds for the select loop. Takes 1 optional argument. Fractional timeout values are ok.

$aim->add_buddy($send_bool, $group, @buddies);

This adds @buddies to your buddy list, under the group $group. if $send_bool evaluates to TRUE then the toc_add_buddy command is sent to the server. Otherwise it is not sent out. This function will also save the list internally.

$aim->add_permit($send_bool, $group, @buddies);

This adds @buddies to your permit list, under the group $group. if $send_bool evaluates to TRUE then the toc_add_permit command is sent to the server. Otherwise it is not sent out. This function will also save the list internally.

$aim->add_deny($send_bool, $group, @buddies);

This adds @buddies to your deny list, under the group $group. if $send_bool evaluates to TRUE then the toc_add_deny command is sent to the server. Otherwise it is not sent out. This function will also save the list internally.

$aim->remove_buddy($send_bool, $group, @buddies);

This removes @buddies from your buddy list. $group must be the group they were orginally set with for them to be deleted from the internal $aim memory and prevent them from getting added again incase a set_config method is called.

if $send_bool evaluates to TRUE then the toc_add_deny command is sent to the server. Otherwise it is not sent out. This function will also save the list internally.

$aim->set_idle($idle_time)

This method sets our idle time to $idle_time. If $idle_time is omitted it will be set to 0.

$aim->get_info($screen_name)

Sends an info request to the server for $screen_name. The server should reply with a URL which will contain the info requested about the user.

$aim->set_info($info)

This method sets your info or profile information to $info on the server.

$aim->evil($user, $anon)

Warn $screen_name. $anon: boolean value which will determine whether to warn the user anonymously or normally. Anonymous warnings are less severe.

$aim->send($message)

Send $message to the server. This is used internally by other functions to send commands to the server.

$aim->send(toc_add_buddy perlaim)

$aim->chat_invite($room, $msg, @buddies)

Invite @buddies to $room with the message $msg

$aim->chat_accept($room_id)

This will accept an invitation that was sent to us for $room_id

$aim->chat_leave($room_id)

This method instructs the server to take you out of the room $room_id

$aim->chat_whisper($room_id,$user,$msg)

Whisper $msg to $user in the room $room_id

$aim->chat_send($room_id, $message)

Send $message in chat room $room_id

$aim->chat_join($roomname)

Send a request to enter the room $roomname

$aim->send_im($screen_name, $message)

This method sends $message to $screen_name.

$aim->list_rooms();

This method returns an @array of rooms each consisting of ID:ROOM_NAME. For instance: 235236:Perl AIM Chat12 234323:Perl AIM Chat13 235832:Perl AIM Chat14 125082:Perl AIM Chat15

$aim->get_roomname($id)

This method returns the name of the room with id $id.

$aim->set_roomname($id, $roomname)

This saves $roomname in the $aim object in a %hash keyed on $id.

$aim->del_roomname($id)

Deletes $id and its associate value from our roomname hash in $aim

$aim->encode($str)

This method returns $str encoded as per the TOC specs: escaped special chars ({}[]$) and enclosed in quotes (")

$aim->send_config()

This method instructs the module to send our configurations which are the mode (permit/deny/all) and our buddy list to the server and to set it as our saved config on the server

$aim->send_buddies()

This method instructs the module to send all our current buddies to the AOL server.

$set_config_str($config_str, add_bool)

This parses a config string of the form: g Buddies p permit1 p permit2 d deny1 d deny2 b budd1 b budd2

Key: g - Buddy Group (All Buddies until the next g or the end of config are in this group.) b - A Buddy p - Person on permit list d - Person on deny list m - Permit/Deny Mode. Possible values are 1 - Permit All 2 - Deny All 3 - Permit Some 4 - Deny Some

$aim->normalize($data)

This method normalizes $data by killing all but strict alphnumeric characters. Typically used for screen_names.

Audio::Data 1.029

Audio::Data 1.029

Audio::Data is a module for representing audio data to perl. more>>
Audio::Data is a module for representing audio data to perl.

SYNOPSIS

use Audio::Data;
my $audio = Audio::Data->new(rate => , ...);

$audio->method(...)

$audio OP ...

Audio::Data represents audio data to perl in a fairly compact and efficient manner using C via XS to hold data as a C array of float values. The use of float avoids many issues with dynamic range, and typical float has 24-bit mantissa so quantization noise should be acceptable. Many machines have floating point hardware these days, and in such cases operations on float should be as fast or faster than some kind of "scaled integer".

Nominally data is expected to be between +1.0 and -1.0 - although only code which interacts with outside world (reading/writing files or devices) really cares.
It can also represent elements (samples) which are "complex numbers" which simplifies many Digital Signal Processing methods.

Methods

The interface is object-oriented, and provides the methods below.
$audio = Audio::Data->new([method => value ...])
The "constructor" - takes a list of method/value pairs and calls $audio->method(value) on the object in order. Typically first "method" will be rate to set sampling rate of the object.

$rate = $audio->rate
Get sampling rate of object.
$audio->rate($newrate)
Set sampling rate of the object. If object contains existing data it is re-sampled to the new rate. (Code to do this was derived from a now dated version of sox.)
$audio->comment($string)
Sets simple string comment associated with data.
$string = $audio->comment
Get the comment
$time = $audio->duration
Return duration of object (in seconds).
$time = $audio->samples
Return number of samples in the object.
@data = $audio->data
Return data as list of values - not recommended for large data.
$audio->data(@data)
Sets elements from @data.
$audio->length($N)
Set number of samples to $N - tuncating or padding with zeros (silence).
($max,$min) = $audio->bounds([$start_time[,$end_time]])
Returns a list of two values representing the limits of the values between the two times if $end_time isnt specified it defaults to the duration of the object, and if start time isnt specified it defaults to zero.
$copy = $audio->clone
Creates copy of data carrying over sample rate and complex-ness of data.
$slice = $audio->timerange($start_time,$end_time);
Returns a time-slice between specified times.
$audio->Load($fh)
Reads Sun/NeXT .au data from the perl file handle (which should have binmode() applied to it.)
This will eventually change - to allow it to load other formats and perhaps to return list of Audio::Data objects to represnt multiple channels (e.g. stereo).
$audio->Save($fh[,$comment])
Write a Sun/NeXT .au file to perl file handle. $comment if specified is used as the comment.
$audio->tone($freq,$dur,$amp);
Append a sinusoidal tone of specified freqency (in Hz) and duration (in seconds), and peak amplitude $amp.
$audio->silence($dur);
Append a period of 0 value of specified duration.
$audio->noise($dur,$amp);
Append burst of (white) noise of specified duration and peak amplitude.
$window = $audio->hamming($SIZE,$start_sample[,$k])
Returns a "raised cosine window" sample of $SIZE samples starting at specified sample. If $k is specified it overrides the default value of 0.46 (e.g. a value of 0.5 would give a Hanning window as opposed to a Hamming window.)
windowed = ((1.0-k)+k*cos(x*PI))
$freq = $audio->fft($SIZE)
$time = $freq->ifft($SIZE);
Perform a Fast Fourier Transform (or its inverse). (Note that in general result of these methods have complex numbers as the elements. $SIZE should be a power-of-two (if it isnt next larger power of two is used). Data is padded with zeros as necessary to get to $SIZE samples.
@values = $audio->amplitude([$N[,$count]])
Return values of amplitude for sample $N..$N+$count inclusive. if $N is not specified it defaults to zero. If $count is not specified it defaults to 1 for scalar context and rest-of-data in array context.
@values = $audio->dB([$N[,$count]])
Return amplitude - in deci-Bells. (0dB is 1/2**15 i.e. least detectable value to 16-bit device.) Defaults as for amplitude.
@values = $audio->phase([$N [,$count]])
Return Phase - (if data are real returns 0). Defaults as for amplitude.
$diff = $audio->difference
Returns the first difference between successive elements of the data - so result is one sample shorter. This is a simple high-pass filter and is much used to remove DC offsets.
$Avalues = $audio->lpc($NUM_POLES,[$auto [,$refl]])
Perform Linear Predictive Coding analysis of $audio and return coefficents of resulting All-Pole filter. 0th Element is not a filter coefficent (there is no A[0] in such a filter) - but is a measure of the "error" in the matching process. $auto is an output argument and returns computed autocorrelation. $refl is also output and are so-called reflection coefficents used in "lattice" realization of the filter. (Code for this lifted from "Festival" speech systems speech_tools.)
$auto = $audio->autocorrelation($LENGTH)
Returns an (unscaled) autocorrelation function - can be used to cause peaks when data is periodic - and is used as a precursor to LPC analysis.
