Gnome Workstation Command Center 0.9.8
GWCC allows users to execute network utilities (ping, nslookup, traceroute). more>>
GWCC allows users to execute network utilities (ping, nslookup, traceroute) and workstation commands (netstat, df, process grep) from a single tabbed window.
Welcome to GWCC.This program is designed to provide an easy to use interface to your Unix system. I dont know about you, but perform the same operations over-and-over day-after-day, and the command line provided via a terminal window ceases to be very useful once you want to start doing something with the information - like saving or printing it.
In addition to having to know all the flags for all the commands you want to use, you also have to scroll up-and-down the terminal window to retrace your steps and to cut-and-paste (what was that IP address again?).
So, i hope you will find my GTK/GNOME-based point-and-click application of some use in your daily computing activities. Please feel free to write to me with any suggestions you may have (see Contacting The Author below).
Main features:
- Complete preferences system (no need to edit any config files, or know flags)
- GNOME support (session management, dialogs, menus, etc.)
- LibGLADE support
- Saving and Printing of all output!
- Highly configurable command flags and program behaviour.

Liblicense 0.3
Liblicense is a library for managing license metadata, in particular CC licensing information. more>>
Liblicense is a library for managing license metadata, in particular CC licensing information.
The idea of this library started out on the IRC channel, in a discussion on how to best help boost the community of software developers working with things related to CC - mostly the metadata format.
Basically, the idea is to write a portable C library that manages metadata for CC licenses, and a bunch of other licenses of interest to the community.
The library will produce licensing information based on the specifications of calling libraries and programs. In addition to generating text for specific licenses, it will also allow an application to enumerate which licenses are currently available and provide descriptive text for each license, and for license features. It should also provide an easy way to specify "verify at" URLs.
The benefit of this library is that applications linking to it can correctly offer licensing choices, and these choices can be transparently updated through package managers as license versions are updated. Human readable descriptions will also be internationalized, preferably using the same .po files used by the CC web site. Hence liblicense will take advantage of package updating and i18n systems to allow applications to always provide c current and correct licensing choices and license text.
Part of the project is also to provide wrappers for the library for other languages, and to help external developers add metadata support to their projects. A good start will probably be to wrap the library for Python, and use it for ccpublisher.
We will also integrate a module system so that libraries can be used to embed and extract metadata in/from common formats.
As liblicense itself deals only with text strings, we can also make GUI libraries to provide dialogs which present these strings to the user in desktop or web applications. This layering ensures that such dialogs present consistent licensing choices.
Enhancements:
- This is the first version to feature desktop integration.
- It now features Gnome Nautilus integration: licenses are displayed and can be written from within Nautilus.
- The integration also takes advantage of emblems to visibly display files as licensed.
- Additionally, it features new modules supporting reading from and writing licenses to MSOffice (pre-2007), FLAC, Ogg+FLAC, MusePack, and SMIL.

Internet Communications Engine 3.2
Internet Communications Engine is a modern object middleware solution. more>>
Ice, the Internet Communications Engine, is middleware for the practical programmer. A high-performance Internet communications platform, Ice includes a wealth of layered services and plug-ins. Ice means simplicity, speed, and power.
Ice is available under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL). Commercial licenses are available for customers who wish to use Ice with proprietary products. Please contact sales@zeroc.com for more information.
Ice is currently available for C++, Java, C#, Visual Basic, Python, and PHP, and is supported on various operating systems. Additional operating systems and languages will be supported in future releases.
Ice consists of the following packages:
Slice The Specification Language for Ice. Slice establishes a contract between clients and servers, and is also used to describe persistent data.
The Slice Compilers Tools to compile from Slice into target languages, such as C++ and Java, or to automatically generate documentation from Slice files.
Ice The Ice core library. Among many other features, the Ice core library manages all the communication tasks using a highly efficient protocol (including protocol compression and support for both TCP and UDP), provides a flexible thread pool for multi-threaded servers, and additional functionality that supports extreme scalability with potentially millions of Ice objects.
IceUtil A collection of utility functions, such as Unicode handling and thread programming. (C++ only.)
IceBox An application server specifically for Ice applications. IceBox can easily run and administer Ice services that are dynamically loaded as a DLL, shared library, or Java class.
IcePack A sophisticated server activation and deployment tool. With IcePack, the complex task of deploying applications in a heterogeneous computer network is dramatically simplified. Simply write a deployment descriptor in industry-standard XML, and IcePack handles the rest.
Freeze Freeze provides automatic persistence for Ice servants. With just a few lines of code, an application can incorporate a highly-scalable evictor that efficiently manages persistent objects.
FreezeScript It is common for persistent data types to change, especially in large software projects. In order to minimize the impact of these changes, FreezeScript provides inspection and migration tools for Freeze databases. The tools support an XML-based scripting capability that is both powerful and easy to use.
IceSSL A dynamic SSL transport plug-in for the Ice core. It provides authentication, encryption, and message integrity, using the industry-standard SSL protocol.
Glacier One of the most difficult challenges for object middleware systems is security and firewalls. Glacier, the firewall solution for Ice, greatly simplifies the deployment of secure applications. Glacier authenticates and filters client requests and allows callbacks to the client in a secure fashion. In combination with IceSSL, Glacier provides a powerful security solution that is both non-intrusive and easy to configure.
IceStorm A messaging service with support for federation. In contrast to most other messaging or event services, IceStorm supports typed events, meaning that broadcasting a message over a federation is as easy as invoking a method on an interface.
IcePatch A patching service for software distributions. Keeping software up-to-date is often a tedious task. IcePatch automates updating of individual files as well as complete directory hierarchies. Only files that have changed are downloaded to the client machine, using efficient compression algorithms.
Enhancements:
- Various additions, including redundant IceGrid registries.

Quasar Retail contains all of the features available in Quasar Accounting plus it contains the Quasar Point-of-Sale driver which allows Quasar Accounting to communicate with the Quasar Point-of-Sale application. Quasar Retail is only available with our commercial license.
In a mission critical environment such as retail you will need to purchase one of our support packages for timely access to support . Resellers and customers who wish a copy of the Quasar Retail source code can obtain it by purchasing annual source code access.

SlaBuntuVMware 0.2
SlaBuntuVMware is a useful installation suite for installing VMware Server on Slackware or Ubuntu. more>>
SlaBuntuVMware is a useful installation suite for installing VMware Server on Slackware or Ubuntu.
The project automatically downloads packages from the VMware site.
Tested on Slackware 11. (Slackware 10.2 might not work - try)
Tested on Ubuntu Desktop Dapper Drake and Ubuntu Desktop Edgy.
IMPORTANT: this suite does not include the vmware server packs,
they are downloaded from the official VMware site.
You also need a server key for activating the product that you must
get (for free) from the VMware web-site (http://www.vmware.com/server/)
INSTALLATION (Slackware Linux) :
a) 1- The perfect setup for running vmware on Slackware is:
Slackware 11 (When you install the OS leave a big partion for your
virtual machines).
Using a good server with an hardware raid controller:
Suggested Partition Table (scsi disks, if ide hda):
/dev/sda1 swap (megs?gb? depends on your system)
/dev/sda2 / 10Gb
/dev/sda3 /home 2Gb
/dev/sda4 /vm (160 Gb the rest for your virtual machines)
You must do a normal install with X support but no KDE.
2- Dropline Gnome (http://www.droplinegnome.net)
It is suggested you run gnome on Slackware 11. Gnome is not
included in the distro cds, therefore you must download

(Default Kernel 2.4.33.3 works perfectly though)
CAUTION: take a look on www.vmware.com for the
supported kernel 2.6 versions.
OR
- If you have problems building 2.6.x vmware kernel module, just use
the normal 2.4.33.3 kernel supplied with your slackware, or try the test26.s
or huge26.s supplied with your slackware cds.
b) - The base setup for running vmware on Slackware is:
1- Slackware 11
2- Kde(not tested can have problems with some libraries)
(if you do not want to Download and install Dropline Gnome)
3- Kernel 2.4.33 (with the kernel sources into /usr/src/linux)
Using a normal pc with no raid controller (so you should use linux
raid software):
Suggested Partition Table (scsi disks, if ide hda):
/dev/md1 swap (megs?gb? depends on your system)
/dev/md2 / 10Gb
/dev/md3 /home 2Gb
/dev/md4 /vm (100 Gb? the rest for your virtual machines)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you do not want to use Gnome or Kde go at the end of this file.
