Adams Ripsuite is a collection of quick and dirty Perl and bash scripts to help rip CDs and manage a music collection. The project rips music video DVDs and music CDs to files on your hard drive.
Reads track information in from a file on disk. Transcodes music files from and to a variety of formats using mplayer/lame/libogg. Specify an artist name to have their back catalogue copied to a folder.
Corrects the case of artist names/song titles for all music files/folders of music files. Adds artist information to files ripped with song title only. Does not support CDDB lookups for track information.

msg BOY that really hit the spot!
The Scott Adams compiler, sac, allows you create adventure games in a straightforward syntax, and compiles them into the format that was used in the classic Scott Adams adventures - and which is therefore now understood by scottfree and various other interpreters for those old games.
If youre running a Linux system, theres a fair chance that you already have such an interpreter on your system - its probably called scottfree, ScottCurses, GnomeScott or something similar. Certainly Red Hat Linux distributions from 4.0 onwards (and maybe much earlier) have come with Scott Adams interpreters.
This manual describes the syntax of the sac file which sac compiles into Scott Adams format.
All of the examples are taken from Scott Adams first game, the classic Adventureland - a game dripping with atmosphere and nostalgia which I cant recommend highly enough.

Ansel 2.3
Ansel is a picture gallery for web sites. more>>
Ansel is a picture gallery for web sites. It is a high quality, information-rich photo gallery designed to handle large numbers of images and albums. Ansel stores all its images in a database, making it both fast and flexible.
Ansel is similar in spirit to Shutterfly and Yahoo pictures, but does not place restrictions on image size. It was named after Ansel Adams, the famous twentieth century naturalist photographer of the
American West.
Ansel is free; it carries a BSD liscence which allows many different types of usage including commercial ones. However along with this fact comes some caveats. It is designed to be easy to use, but not necessarily easy to setup. In fact its a bit advanced in that department.
Ansel requires a webserver with the PHP/PHP-MySQL engine, and a running MySQL database. You may need to know the basics of PHP, MySQL, and Apache to get things running.
I have tried to make Ansel use relative paths instead of absolute ones to make it play nicely with the rest of your site and to allow multiple instances.
Your system must have ImageMagic installed, specifically mogrify (named from Calvin&Hobbes I believe) and montage. These are used for image manipulation and are generally available by default on Linux systems.
Apache
Ansel allows images to be uploaded to the gallery remotely, which means potentially anyone can add pictures. In Ansel 2.0 passwords are used to protect pictures in an album. Security is by-album, not by-picture, which shouldnt be too much of a problem.
However, you must serve this site over HTTPS to safely encrypt passwords sent from browsers. A 403 password box sends usernames and passwords in plain text, and only by running the site over encrypted channels (like https) can security be called anything close to safe. Apache has an excellent and free mod_ssl which will run https.
MySQL
You have to create the ansel database in MySQL and give select and update permissions to a user. Ones that will work off the bat would be:
mysql> grant select,update,insert on ansel.* to apache@localhost;
To create the database do the following as root:
$ mysqladmin create ansel
$ mysql ansel < ansel.sql
The ansel.sql file is contained in the ansel/sql directory.
PHP
I believe Ansel expects to have magicquotes turned off. This affects how quotes are returned from the database. You should change the resource limits to allow large picture uploads. These are for my Linux RedHat system (Built with Rocks 3.1), the exact locations of these file may vary for you.
In File /etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf:
LimitRequestBody 16777216
In File /etc/php.ini:
; Maximum size of POST data that PHP will accept.
post_max_size = 60M
; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 20M
Enhancements:
- Security was improved by removing the requirement for PHPs register_globals setting.
- Minor features including a more dynamic gallery home page were added.

Jabber::RPC::HTTPgate 0.01
Jabber::RPC::HTTPgate is an HTTP gateway for Jabber-RPC / XML-RPC. more>>
Jabber::RPC::HTTPgate is an HTTP gateway for Jabber-RPC / XML-RPC.
SYNOPSIS
use Jabber::RPC::HTTPgate;
my $gw = new Jabber::RPC::HTTPgate(
server => myserver.org:5701,
identauth => jrpchttp.localhost:secret,
httpcomp => http,
);
$gw->start;
Jabber::RPC::HTTPgate is an experimental gateway that provides a conduit service between traditional (HTTP-transported) XML-RPC encoded requests/responses and Jabber-RPC (XML-RPC encoded requests/responses transported over Jabber).
The idea is that you can start a gateway, that connects as a component to the backbone of a Jabber server, and it proxies Jabber-RPC to HTTP-based XML-RPC endpoints, and vice versa. That means that your Jabber-RPC client can not only make XML-RPC encoded calls to a Jabber-RPC endpoint but also to a traditional HTTP-based XML-RPC endpoint. And it also means that your traditional HTTP-based XML-RPC client can make XML-RPC encoded calls to a Jabber-RPC endpoint.
Jabber -> HTTP
When you create and start up a gateway, it listens for Jabber-RPC calls, just like a normal Jabber-RPC responder. On receipt of such a call, the gateway creates an HTTP request and sends this request on to the HTTP-based XML-RPC endpoint. The response received back from this HTTP call is relayed back to the original Jabber-RPC requester.
While a Jabber-RPC endpoint address is a Jabber ID (JID), an traditional XML-RPC endpoint address is a URL. So all the Jabber-RPC client needs to do is specify the URL in the resource part of the gateways endpoint JID.
HTTP -> Jabber
As well as listening for Jabber-RPC calls, a gateway will also service incoming HTTP requests that can be made to the HTTP component that this gateway uses. The HTTP component (called simply http) can be downloaded from the normal Jabber software repository.
On receipt of an HTTP request (passed to it by the HTTP component), the gateway creates a Jabber-RPC request containing the XML-RPC encoded payload, and sends it on to the Jabber-RPC responder endpoint. This endpoint is identified (via a JID) by the path part of the URL used in the call by the traditional client.

TuxBank 0.8
TuxBank is a simple web based application that allows you to manage your finances. more>>
TuxBank is a simple web based application that allows you to manage your finances by seperating your money into virtual "accounts". It caters to small incomes.
It is a simple tool that users with simple budgets can use when programs such as Quicken or GnuCash are overly complex for their budget.
TuxBank is written in php and uses mysql to store data. It is open source software licensed under the Gnu Public License. TuxBank is very much a beta program that is fairly incomplete at this time. However, I personally find it to be very usable in its current state.
TuxBanks interface uses standard compliant XHTML/CSS markup. It has only been tested using Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari, however, it should render just fine using any standards compliant browser.
Enhancements:
- You can now customize the toolbar.
- Simple Budget Helper is now included as part of TuxBank.
- There is now client-side form validation.
- You can now see the total amount of money per day.
- You can no longer withdraw or deposit negative amounts.
- Some more error handling was added.
- Many error messages were clarified.
- You can no longer name an account with only whitespace.
- A potential security hole was plugged.
- A MySQL error that would occur after a certain number of transactions was fixed.
- Minor theme changes were made.

Boomer 3.1.2
Boomer project is a general purpose modeling and simulation program. more>>
Boomer project is a general purpose modeling and simulation program.
It provides the estimation of parameter values by non-linear weighted least squares regression or the simulation of complex systems of differential equations.
Parameter estimation can be by normal or Bayesian methods. A comprehensive list of weighting schemes is included. The model to be analyzed can be entered as a system of integrated equations or as a system of differential equations.
Differential equations are solved by a classical fourth order Runge-Kutta method, a fourth order Runge-Kutta-Gill method, a four/five Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method, an Adams predictor-corrector method, or Gears method for stiff equations.
Simulation with random error in parameters or data are also possible. A batch run can be repeated many times to assist in Monte Carlo type studies.
Installation:
Untar the downloaded file with
tar -xvzf fboomer312a.tar.gz
As an administrator user you can move boomer to your PATH and thereby invoke the program globally. The command:
sudo cp boomer /usr/bin/boomer
Enter password
from your download folder (where the new version of boomer resides) will put boomer in a directory usually included in your PATH variable. This can be checked with the command:
echo $PATH
I havent checked this with Linux/Fedora yet but something similar should work. I only get limited time on my younger sons game machine.
