Email Files Thunderbird 1.0

Email Files Thunderbird 1.0

Email Files Thunderbird is a very simple service menu script, to email one or more files with Thunderbird. more>>
Email Files Thunderbird is a very simple service menu script, to email one or more files with Thunderbird to any address or to a given address, which i assume is used as a "backup" space.

The subject is automatically updated according to the attached files and, in case you choose to send to your specific email address, details about sending date, user and host are automatically added in the body.

There are other similar service menus around, but i wanted a script that allows to attach more than one file at one time and that automatically updates the subject line.

USAGE: pretty straightforward.. Just make the two .sh files executable (if necessary) and place them in a directory of your path, for example /home/YOUR_USERNAME/bin. Place the service menu file EmailWithThunderbird.desktop in /home/YOUR_USERNAME/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus

IMPORTANT: In file EmailWithThunderbirdToMyAddress.sh, you need to specify your email address in to=.... (that is, where i wrote: YOUR_EMAIL_ADDRESS@DOMAIN.NAME)

This project was tested on OpenSuSE 10.2, KDE 3.5.6

CatGrab Small for Linux 1.3

CatGrab Small for Linux 1.3

CatGrab imports files from your digital camera under Linux platform. more>> Support Linux platforms from Version 1.3
Import photos with a single click
-One click is all it takes with CatGrab to import files from your digital camera, automatically rotate them, sort them and open them in a viewer.
Transparent file storage
-Files are stored in a transparent directory structure. No database is needed to retrieve your images at a later date.
Continuity
-Catgrab is compatible with a wide range of software. The transparent basic file structure means that the user is not reliant on special photo management software, thereby optimizing continuity across different software solutions.
Platform-independence
-The software can be run on Mac, Windows and Linux. Continuity is guaranteed even if the operating system changes or you find yourself working on different systems simultaneously.
Automatic renaming and archiving
-Files are re-named by date and time and stored in appropriate directories on a biannual, quarterly or monthly basis.
No duplicated files on your PC
-Files are not duplicated on your PC, even when the file names have been changed. So images can stay on the camera and will not be subsequently downloaded twice.
Clarity
-The one-click-system means that the software has only two command buttons. One for a quick settings menu with access to the users manual, and the second for importing photos and films with a single click.

FileArchiveIndexer 1.29

FileArchiveIndexer 1.29

FileArchiveIndexer is a collection of modules and scripts to maintain detailed information about documents on disk. The intended use of this system is in a buysiness or office enviroment. more>> FileArchiveIndexer 1.29 is a collection of modules and scripts to maintain detailed information about documents on disk. The intended use of this system is in a business or office environment.

The system allows for a large archive of files that will be regularly changing by the adding, moving, and removing of files. OCR software is used to index content of image files, hard copy paper documents saved as pdf files.

The initial indexing of a large archive can take weeks. This document shows an overview of how it works, and why some decisions were made as to how it works. For technical API documentation, please see FileArchiveIndexer.This application relies heavily on posix. It is meant to run on linux. Portability is not a goal of this package.

In maintaining a database indexing an archive of files, there are two things want to know. The first thing is want to know where the files are, refer to this as the Update Step. The other thing want to do is actually index the files. This is the Indexing Step.

Major Features:

  1. The system will deal with a large archive of documents residing in a filesystem.
  2. If a file is renamed, or moved, its contents should not be reindexed. If a file's data has not changed, there must be a way to acknowledge and reflect that.
  3. Indexing of particular document types can be extremely time intensive, taking maybe minutes for example to read an image with ocr and turn it into text.
  4. multiple indexing processes should be able to run, maybe even from different computers. They should not bump into each other. basically, there is a Queue system managing indexing.

Extract archive 1.11

Extract archive 1.11

Extract archive is a service menu that allows you to extract any archive file that ark is capable to read + ACE files. more>>
Extract archive is a service menu that allows you to extract any archive file that ark is capable to read + ACE files.
You can chose to extract here, or in a subdirectory. In that case, it asks you the name of the subdirectory where you want to extract, and suggests you the archive name by default.
To install, simply extract, and move the 2 files in ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus
Its highly recommended to download the latest version of unace on www.winace.com and to run this command line in the unace directory location : sudo cp unace /usr/bin/unace
You should desactivate ark integration into kde by going into the configuration menu of ark.
If you want translation to be added, post me comments.
Enhancements:
- thanks to shirka, extract archive path is now "test" for an "test.tar.bz2" file
- Name that appears in the menu is now "Extract archive" as suggested by dovidhalevi to differentiate with ark

Enterprise File Exchange (EFX) slots in where email file attachment limits stop your users from sending those important files to a contact.

In the EFX world, the user visits the EFX site, uploads the file, enters the receivers email address and lets the system notify the receiver that theres a file waiting for them, via a simple email message.

Senders need to sign up, and the EFX system only allows transfers between internal users (those with addresses in an approved list) and external users, never external to external.

It is written in Python, using the Pylons framework.

This project is licensed under the GNU GPL version 3.

filewatcher 2.4.3

filewatcher 2.4.3

filewatcher is a system administration tool designed to archive changes to important system files. more>>
filewatcher is a system administration tool designed to archive changes to important system files (or any interesting file) and to send detailed reports about changes to one or more e-mail addresses when they are detected.
filewatcher is of great use in multiple administrator environments where each administrator will benefit from knowing what changes were made by others shortly after they were made.
While filewatcher wont report who made a particular change (unless the change itself includes that information), the fact that multiple eyes see every change makes for a much more proactive environment.
And, if an invalid change is made, correcting or rolling back to the previous version is trivial.
filewatcher is typically run from cron at whatever frequency you feel comfortable with the scheduling frequency determined the mimimum time that will elapse before filewatcher can detect a change.
When it runs, filewatcher loads its configuration file and determines which files need to be checked based on their defined scan interval.
If a change has previously been detected for a particular file, that file will not be checked again until its scan interval timer has expired.
Enhancements:
- A bug in function references was fixed.
- An RPM spec file and a sample configuration for inclusion with an RPM were added.

News::Archive 0.14

News::Archive 0.14

News::Archive is a Usenet news archiving package for downloading and later accessing news articles in bulk. more>>
News::Archive is a Usenet news archiving package for downloading and later accessing news articles in bulk.

It can load articles laid out in INN format, retrieve them from a running news server, or just take articles one-by-one. News::Archive module is compatible with News::Web and Net::NNTP::Server, so the articles can be shared either via the Web or via NNTP.

SYNOPSIS

use News::Archive;
my $archive = new News::Archive
( basedir => /home/tskirvin/kiboze );

# Get a news article
my $article = News::Article->new(*STDIN);
my $msgid = article->header(message-id);

die "Already processed $msgidn"
if ($archive->article( $messageid ));

# Get the list of groups were supposed to be saving the article into
my @groups = split(s*,s*, $article->header(newsgroups) );
map { s/s+//g } @groups;

# Make sure were subscribed to these groups
foreach (@groups) { $archive->subscribe($_) }

# Actually save the article.
my $ret = $archive->save_article(
[ @{$article->rawheaders}, , @{$article->body} ], @groups );
$ret ? print "Accepted article $messageidn"
: print "Couldnt save article $messageidn";

News::Archive keeps several files to keep track of its archives:

active file

Keeps track of all newsgroups we are "subscribed" to and all of the information that changes regularly - the number of articles we have archived, the current first and last article numbers, etc.

Watched over with News::Active.

history database

A simple database keeping track of articles by Message-ID. Makes access by ID easy, and ensures that we dont save the same article twice. The database chosen to maintain these is user-determined.

newsgroup file

Keeps track of more static information about the newsgroups we are subscribed to - descriptions, creation dates, etc.

Watched over with News::GroupInfo.

archive directory

Directory structure of all articles, with each article saved as a single textfile within a directory structure laid out at one section of the group name per directory, such as "rec/games/mecha". Crossposts are hardlinked to other directory structures.

Articles are actually divided into sub-directories containing up to 500 articles, to avoid Unix directory size performance limitations. Individual files are thus stored in a file such as "rec/games/mecha/1.500/1".

Each newsgroup also contains overview information, watched over with
News::Overview. This overview file goes in the top of the structure,
such as "rec/games/mecha/.overview".

You may note that these files are very similar to how INN does its work. This is intentional - this package is meant to act in many ways like a lighter-weight INN.

Usage:

Global Variables

The following variables are set within News::Archive, and are global throughout all invocations.

$News::Active::DEBUG
Default value for "debug()" in new objects.

$News::Active::HOSTNAME
Default value for "hostname()" in new objects. Obtained using
"Sys::Hostname::hostname()".

$News::Active::HASH
The number of articles to keep in each directory. Default is 500;
change this at your own peril, since things may get screwed up later
if you change it after archiving any articles!

Photorec 6.6

Photorec 6.6

PhotoRec is a small tool to recover pictures from digital camera memory. more>>
PhotoRec is a small tool to recover pictures from digital camera memory. Photorec software searches for MOV and JPEG headers, and because there is (usually) no data fragmentation, it can recover the whole file.
It can recover data from CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SecureDigital, SmartMedia, Microdrive, MMC, USB Memory Drives...
PhotoRec is safe to use, it will never attempt to write to the drive or memory support you are about to recover from. Recovered files are instead written in the directory from where you are running the PhotoRec program.
Photorec ignores the filesystem, this way it works even if the filesystem is severely damaged.
It can recover lost files at least from:
- FAT,
- NTFS,
- EXT2/EXT3 filesystem
Digital Camera
PhotoRec has been successfully tested with:
- Canon EOS300D, 10D
- HP PhotoSmart 620, 850, 935
- Nikon CoolPix 775, 5700
- Olympus C350N, C860L, Mju 400 Digital, Stylus 300
- Sony DSC-P9
- Praktica DCZ-3.4

KSendFile 0.8a

KSendFile 0.8a

KSendfile is a native SAFT client. more>>
KSendfile is a native SAFT client. Compared to the Bitnet up to now there was no asynchronous file transfer service defined in the Internet. The existing standard file transfer, the ftp, is a synchronous service: an interactive login on both ends of the file transfer is mandatory for the user to set up a connection between both points.
If a user A wants to send a file to user B they have the following choices:
- ftp to a recipients account B
In this case one has to know the password of the recipients account. If A and B are not the identical person, severe questions of security arise and it is not the method of choice. Even if account A and B belong to the same person, the typed ASCII password characters for ftp access will travel open (readable) as ordinary TCP packets through the network.
- ftp using an anonymous ftp server
The file has to be uploaded by A onto the anonymous ftp server using an ftp session. After that A has to notify B about this using e-mail informing this user about the fact that the file is ready for download now. B can get the file now by doing another ftp transfer. This procedures requires a common reachable ftp server, with an upload (write access) facility. During the time the file resides on the anonymous ftp server it is open to anyone, it may be readable, writeable, changeable or erasable.
- sending a file via e-mail
A is sending a file to B enclosed into an e-mail. According to RFC 822 a mail must contain characters from the NVT-ASCII character set, which is a subset of the 7 bit ASCII character set. The file transfer via e-mail is limited to English text documents or the text to be sent must be encoded properly, of course using the NVT-ASCII character set. Encoding procedures like uuencode or MIME are available. It is not a pleasure to use either of them, they dont support all file ownership attributes and they will enlarge the amount of data to be transferred by encoding. In addition to this most of the existing MTAs are not designed to handle large amount of data transfers.
To avoid all the described disadvantages the SAFT-protocol (Simple Asynchronous File Transfer) has been developed and the sendfile software has been created as a reference implementation for UNIX platforms.
Enhancements:
- Fixed a bug in ksendfilenetclient::sendFile when getting status code 531
- Added Resend Function
- Fixed bug in ksendfilenetclient::sendfile in the date function
- Now sends the file date, not the actual system date.
