radmind is a suite of Unix command-line tools and a server designed to remotely administer the file systems of multiple Unix machines. For Mac OS X, theres also a graphical interface.
At its core, radmind operates as a tripwire. radmind project is able to detect changes to any managed filesystem object, e.g. files, directories, links, etc. However, radmind goes further than just integrity checking: once a change is detected, radmind can optionally reverse the change.
Each managed machine may have its own loadset composed of multiple, layered overloads. This allows, for example, the operating system to be described separately from applications.
Loadsets are stored on a remote server. By updating a loadset on the server, changes can be pushed to managed machines.

Web Secretary is a web page monitoring software. However, it goes beyond the normal functionalities offered by such software. It will detect changes based on content analysis, making sure that its not just HTML that changed, but actual content.
You can tell it what to ignore in the page (hit counters and such), and it can mail you the document with the changes highlighted or load the highlighted page in a browser.
Web Secretary is actually a suite of two Perl scripts called websec and webdiff. websec retrieves web pages and email them to you based on a URL list that you provide. webdiff compares two web pages (current and archive) and creates a new page based on the current page but with all the differences highlighted using a predefined color.
For example you can look at the Web Secretary page as it was monitored:
- Old Page - The original page before the change.
- Modified Page - The page after the change.
- Highlighted Page - The page as WebSec sends, highlighted.
Personally, I put Web Secretary on crontab to monitor a large number of web pages. When the highlighted pages are delivered to me, I use procmail to sort them out and file them into another folder. Sometimes, when I am busy, I will not have time to accessing the web for a few days. However, with Web Secretary, I can always access the "archive" that it has created for me at my own leisure.

Creating parsers by hand is tedious even for simple languages. This activity can be automated by parser-generators - yacc is a well-known example. But using such tools is quite demanding and requires a reasonable knowlege of the principles of syntactic analysis.

LLg is a set of Perl5 packages which allow the generation of recursive descent parsers for context-free grammars.

LLg is provided with the packages Lex and Token which are object-based. The use of these packages presupposes that you know how to write a BNF grammar and that you know (just a little) about programming in Perl.

Specifying the parser does not require any extension to Perl syntax. The specification is carried out entirely in standard Perl, be it definition of tokens, syntactic rules or associated semantic actions. LLg allows the easy specification of translation schemes, that is parsers for which the semantic action is given by actions directly associated with each production.

The packages Token and LLg allow respectively the definition of objects corresponding to terminals (tokens) and non-terminals of the grammar. Lex handles the reading and "eating" of tokens in the input stream.

Before using these packages you need to define a BNF grammar without left recursion (an LL(1) grammar). Given this, making the parser consists in:

1. create a lexical analyser by specifying the terminals,
2. create a parser (syntactic analyser) by creating a LLg object (or, more precisely, one of the packages which inherits from LLg) for each non-terminal.
3. define the semantics by associating an anonymous function with each LLg object.

Take as an example arithmetic expressions having only + and - as operators. In the Camel book we find the following grammar:

Creating the parser for this language involves defining a lexical analyser and a syntactic analyser.

The lexical analyser is defined thusly:

The argument of the method new() is a list of pairs: the identity of the terminal and the corresponding regular expression. Each such pair leads to the creation of a terminal of type Token.

The package LLg is the base package of a set : And, Any, Do, Hook, Opt, Or. These packages allow the creation of the different types of rules normally found in context-free grammars. We use a prefix notation with the following equivalences.

The arguments of the method new() are references to LLg or Token objects. (The written order of the rule has no significance, since scalars can be references before they are assigned a value. The semantics is defined by putting an anonymous function at the end of the list of object references. The anonymous function uses information associated with the objects. This information is transmitted by positional parameters (the array @_). The nth argument designates the result of the nth parameter of the method new(). Information returned by the function is associated with the object and is transmitted by means of positional parameters wherever the object is used. In our example we will have:

When an integer is recognised it is returned by the anonymous function associated with the object $factor. This returned information (or, more precisely, synthesised, since it comes from a a terminal and is transmitted to non-terminals) is also available in the anonymous function associated with the object $expr. The information returned by the following object is used to calculate the value of the arithmetical expression.

The analyser is started up by applying the method next() to the axiom of the grammar:

By default the input for analysis is read from the standard input. The example parser analyses and interprets individual expressions typed in at the terminal. The example calculator.pl delivered with the LLg package shows how to create an input loop allowing reading and interpretation of arbitrary many expressions.
The parser generator can be used for other purposes than the analysis of a character stream. Given that the packages Lex, LLg and Token, it is perfectly possible to define terminals which are objects i.e. instances of a class other than Token. Each new package defining terminals ought at least to have the methods status() and next() - see vonkoch.pl as an example.

Cryptogram Puzzle Tool project helps solve the simple cryptogram puzzles that appear in the daily newspapers. While these puzzles can often be solved almost by inspection, CPT4 provides a handy tool for the ones that turn out to be not quite so easy.
If you just want a little bookkeeping help, CPT4 will instantly update all occurrences of the new assignments as well as provide frequency and used/not-used letter lists as you drag-and-drop or key in suspected solution letters. But if youd rather have the computer do the work, the automatic solution algorithm will usually come very close to a complete solution in just a few seconds.
Bonus: CPT4 can also create new puzzles: simply key in or load plaintext from a file, and select the Encrypt item from the Options menu.
Installing / Building / Running:
Start by unpacking in a directory where you have write permissions; all tar files create and populate a cpt4/ directory and contain sample puzzles as well as various information.
For the source distribution, change to the cpt4 directory and just type make. You may get a few warnings while compiling do_hart.c, but otherwise the executables cpt4 and do_hart should be built after a short time and a few intermediate steps. If this does not happen and you are not knowledgeable about such things, you might try the shared library executable distribution instead.
For the 4.1.x shared library executables, you may need to supply a font alias file in a location that the precompiled Pango routines can find; the easiest way to do this is to just copy the two files .pangorc and pangox.aliases from the installation directory into to your $HOME directory. If you use the source distributions, of course, you will need to have a complete Pango installation before you start.
Once you have the executables, try out the program by changing to the installation directory and issuing the command line:
./cpt4
Use the File->Load menu item to load one of the samples (xxxxx.cpt) and play with the controls. Try the Options->Hart Solution menu item to see the automatic solution in action.
If the puzzle text is uncomfortably small or large on your system, you can specify a different font on the command line like this:
./cpt4 -large
./cpt4 -small
With the 4.0.x and 4.1.x versions (but not the 4.2.x versions) you can also specify a font by name like this:
./cpt4 -font="font-name"
For the 4.0.1 versions (with GTK 1.2), the font MUST be monospaced and is expected to be iso8859-1; other characters sets may also work but might produce a different effect. The font-name for these versions of cpt4 must be an X logical font name such as "*clean-bold-r*--16*".
For the 4.1.x versions (with Pango), monospaced fonts will generally produce more pleasing results, but proportional fonts of sufficiently small size may also work; the main requirement is that the ASCII characters ! through ~ be portrayed as expected. Font-name for these versions must be a Pango font name, such as "courier bold 11", "sans 8", "Times 8", and so forth.
If you want just want to run CPT4 from the command line, it is sufficient to put a soft link to cpt4 from somewhere in your PATH and leave both the cpt4 and do_hart executables in the installation directory. For example, as root:

Featherweight Linux is my Live-CD installable Linux distribution that I remastered from Feather Linux, which is built on knoppix technology. Youll find some great people over at Feather and you can find some good documentation there.
Their goal is to make a light and fast Linux with a very small footprint that can be installed on USB pen drives and such. My goal is a bit different. I want a full featured Linux that isnt bloated with a kazillion gigs of crap that Ill never use. I want a small footprint that is light and fast, even on older machines, but still carries a knockout punch.
So I took Feather and stripped out a bunch of apps that I never even thought of using. I wanted to make an easy to understand desktop that was compatible and easily configurable with the latest apps being developed, so I removed all of the window managers and installed a minimal KDE 3.3 desktop.
I included the most popular internet apps like the Mozilla Suite complete with plugins, Gaim, Gftp etc... I added full printer support and wifi support. In my test environment, it automatically detects and configures both my network printer (HP PSC 1210)and my linksys wireless card. Hopefully, itll do the same for you. It is debian based so I installed Synaptic for easy upgrading and totally FREE software management. Customizing your own system with the software that you want is only a few clicks away.
In its current state, the ISO is about 240mb and the HDD install is about 700mb, which is about 1/4 of all the other overweight distros out there. Once you install it, you can install OpenOffice and a bunch of other stuff if you need it, but I just wanted to make a good solid functional base so you can build your own system if you want.
Featherweight is intended for novice users with "some" linux experience, intermediate users, and experienced linux users alike. It has a pretty straight forward install but you should know linux and HDD partitioning basics before trying to install it.

Enhancements:
- Ive upgraded e2fsprogs and e2fslibs as well as some other critical core files.
- I updated the apt sources and added abiword and acroread, as well as the acroread mozilla plugin, and I added kppp.
- I upgraded samba and switched the quick start konqueror and kde help buttons with a mozilla button and a konsole button.
- I fixed the install script where some folks were getting a blank screen after installation and added a grub install script for easy installation of grub after the initial install.
- The total installed size is now about 800mb.

Snort Config provides an intuitive menu-based interface for the GPL IDS tool Snort.
SnortConf is a tool that provides a fairly intuitive menu-based text interface for setting up the GPL IDS tool Snort. It also provides error and sanity checking on user input, and an online help facility.
Currently, Ive just released a Snortconf version to match up to Snort version 1.9.0. I apologize for the late release date; this project is a unique one for me, in that I dont use this program myself (I like the text editor method better personally), so I tend to forget about it if nobody pesters me, which nobody has. Speaking of which:
NOTE TO USERS: If you like this program, or hate this program, or anything else about this program (feature requests? bugs?), please provide me some feedback. My purpose in releasing this program in its current BETA state was to get feedback from people who use it, and to date I have gotten exactly 1 person willing to drop me an e-mail on the subject. The rest of you are encouraged to join in.
The program should compile on almost any POSIX system with a Curses library. It has only been tested on Linux/Ncurses however, so users of other platforms are encouraged to report any issues they encounter with either the build process, or any runtime errors.
Enhancements:
- yncd to changed on the debian boxen.
- rebuilt RPM and tar.gz on the RedHat boxen.
- Updated to output Snort 1.9.0 config files.
- Dang little else. :)
