wbs application is a webshots.com client that downloads and creates a background list for use with Xfce and windowmaker.
Installation:
Extract it:
tar zxvf wbs.tar.gz
you will have folder named .wbs
Create folder for images:
mkdir .wbs/images
Change exec flag on wbs file
chmod +x .wbs/wbs
Note: this is not needed if you call this script as perl argument. see crontab info below
Add entry to crontab to do processing:
crontab -e
add this line:
15 10 * * * /homedir/.wbs/wbs
or
@reboot /homedir/.wbs/wbs
REPLACE homedir WITH FULL PATH TO .wbs FOLDER (use pwd to find out)
Add entry to crontab to change background randomly
crontab -e
for xfce add this line:
0,30 * * * * export DISPLAY=:0; /path/xfdesktop -reload
or
@hourly export DISPLAY=:0; /path/xfdesktop -reload
REPLACE path WITH FULL PATH TO xfdesktop FILE (use which xfdesktop to find out)
for windowmaker add this line:
0,30 * * * * /homedir/.wbs/wmaker-reload
or
@hourly /homedir/.wbs/wmaker-reload
REPLACE homedir WITH FULL PATH TO .wbs FOLDER (use pwd to find out)
Download webdec (http://www.jamesbarford.net/webdec.php).
Compile it and place to some folder. Read documentation for it.
Edit wbs and change variables to reflect your setup.
Variables to change:
$user, $password, $path, $webdec, $images, $list
where:
$user - your user name for webshots.com (free)
$password - your password for webshots.com
$path - use homedir and .wbs from step 5
$webdec - full path to webdec binary
$images - path for images directory created in step 3
$list - file where images list is saved.
Run to check that it works:
./.wbs/wbs
or
perl .wbs/wbs
Update xfce desktop settings to use new images list

ProFTPD is a proven, high-performance, scalable FTP server written from scratch, with a focus toward simplicity, security, and ease of configuration. Naturally, ProFTPD powers some of the largest sites on the Internet.
ProFTPD features a very Apache-like configuration syntax, modules, and a highly customizable server infrastructure, including support for multiple virtual FTP servers, anonymous FTP, and permission-based directory visibility.
Main features:
- Single main configuration file, with directives and directive groups which are intuitive to any administrator who has ever used the Apache web server.
- Per directory ".ftpaccess" configuration similar to Apaches ".htaccess".
- Easy to configure multiple virtual FTP servers and anonymous FTP services.
- Designed to run either as a stand-alone server or from inetd/xinetd, depending on system load.
- Anonymous FTP root directories do not require any specific directory structure, system binaries or other system files.
- No SITE EXEC command. In modern Internet environments, such commands are a security nightmare. ProFTPD does not execute any external programs at any time. The source is available (and must always be available) for administrators to audit.
- Hidden directories and files, based on Unix-style permissions or user/group ownership.
- Runs as a configurable non-privileged user in stand-alone mode in order to decrease chances of attacks which might exploit its "root" abilities. Note: This feature is dependent on the capabilities of the host Unix system.
- Logging and utmp/wtmp support. Logging is compatible with the wu-ftpd standard, with extended logging available.
- Shadow password suite support, including support for expired accounts.
- Modular design, allowing server to be extended easily with modules. Modules have been written for SQL databases, LDAP servers, SSL/TLS encryption, RADIUS support, etc.
- IPv6 support.

AFD comes from Automatic File Distributor and provides a framework for very flexible, non-stop, log and debug-able delivery of an arbitrary amount of files to multiple recipients as expressed in URLs (currently mailing and ftp supported with the mailto://user@domain and ftp://user:password@host URL conventions). AFD stands for Automatic File Distributor.
The most common technique used to distribute data is for each individual to fetch the data from one common place. This place can be a database, FTP-server or even the WWW (World Wide Web). However, this is not always the most user or customer friendly way for a company or organization to distribute its products. For this reason AFD (Automatic File Distributor) was developed, to provide a better service to users or customers in transporting the required data directly to the location where it is required.
When distributing files to a remote host it does so via the FTP or SMTP protocol. Local distribution is done by simply copying files from one directory to another. To distribute files, the AFD has one central configuration file (DIR_CONFIG), where the system administrator can specify which files are to be distributed and where they are to be sent.
Main features:
- The AFD can send/retrieve any type of file, regardless of contents and the name of the file.
- Only the files are being distributed, no other additional information is send with the file.
- The AFD has a very sophisticated and compact X11 interface to monitor and control the distribution of files (afd_ctrl). It has the ability to do extensive logging of all activities, even down to tracing each individual FTP/SMTP command.
- Files can be send to places where no AFD is installed.
- There can be more than one process distributing files to a single host. This has the advantage that when a large file is currently being distributed, other files dont have to wait until the large file is done.
- Where net capacity is limited, it is possible to distribute files with priority.
- If the transfer gets interrupted, AFD can append files. So data that has already been transmitted will not be send again.
- It is possible to setup a whole network of AFDs that can be monitored and controlled through a single interface (mon_ctrl).
Version restrictions:
- The AFD requires X11R5 and Motif 1.2.x (or higher).
Enhancements:
- Files that have been distributed or are to be distributed can now be viewed via show_olog and show_queue dialog.
- A new interface for acknowledging errors was added.
- All events are logged into a separate log file.
- The pattern matching function was enhanced so that it can also handle [] brackets.
- More syntax checks were added for options in DIR_CONFIG.

Lybniz project is a simple function graph plotter in Python on GTK.

Lybniz allows to plot up to three functions on one graph. It needs no installation - simply one Python script.

PETALS is an ObjectWeb Java Business Integration (JBI) platform. PETALS provides lightweight and packaged integration solutions, based on JSR-208 specifications, with a high focus on distribution and clustering.
PETALS is part of ObjectWeb ESB initiative, and was launched in June 2005 by EBM WebSourcing and Fossil E-Commerce.
The project leverages ObjectWeb architecture and projects like Fractal, JORAM, JOnAS to provide a JBI container with a focus on :
- JBI specification conformance
- Integrate JBI in JOnAS
- Multi JVM, distributed and clustered platform for JBI components with native transport based on existing ObjectWeb middleware : JORAM and Dream
- Propose packaged solutions for process orchestration (with focus on BPEL engine, Transformation engine, Web Services and JMS binding components) and B2B integration (with focus on Transformation and B2B bindng components like EDI, ...)
Enhancements:
- This release contains all the PETALS elements that are useful for integration solutions.
- New features include static definition of the distributed environment (avoiding multicast auto-discovering), an improvement to the Web Administrative console, IBM JVM compatibility, and more Binding components.

RLIB is a reporting engine that makes it possible to easily create professional reports in PDF, HTML, text, and CSV from one simple XML report definition file.

RLIB supports direct input from MySQL, PostgreSQL, ODBC, and programmable pluggable inputs. It is written in C and has PHP and Python language bindings built in.

Cego implements a relational and transactional database system with support for the SQL query language. The current release contains the most common database features for basic table manipulation and data retrieval.

Indexes, foreign keys, views, and stored procedures are also implemented. Future releases (2.0 and above) will support a multi-node database concept with log file shipping for an automatic database application failover.
