MP3 Streaming DownSampler for PHP 3.1.2
MP3 Streaming DownSampler for PHP is written with cable modem/DSL users with low upstream caps in mind. more>>
MP3 Streaming DownSampler for PHP is written with cable modem/DSL users with low upstream caps in mind. Using LAME, it dynamically downsamples a requested MP3 to a bitrate which can be streamed.
It doesnt use temporary files, so you dont have to take the time to do any batching, and you just give it a directory with symlinks to your music in a place the Web server can reach. The interface is simplistic and fast, meant for immediate plug and play access.

Cable Modem Counter 0.31
Cable Modem Counter is a cable modem (or any Ethernet connection) IP byte logger. more>>
Cable Modem Counter is a cable modem (or any Ethernet connection) IP byte logger. It is not a packet sniffer, it just gathers network statistics.
It is composed of two parts:
A daemon, which logs all the incoming/outgoing connections and creates pairs of source/destination IP addresses with a byte counter and direction of traffic (inbound or outbound) attached. It stores it periodically on a file (or files). It also accepts network connections to gather the statistics and can also run users scripts which can send commands to the daemon and receive information.
An user application, which can be run on console or X (wmaker/kde bar?) and connects to the daemon and collects the statistics, and then making the separation between national/international , inbound/outbound , etc (not done yet)

LibLp 0.1
LibLp is a library to send and receive data to the parallel port under Linux, using a few simple functions. more>>
LibLp is a library to send and receive data to the parallel port under Linux, using a few simple functions.
Installation:
just untar the file (tar xvfz liblp-0.1.tar.gz) and walk into liblp-0.1; then issue a make. This will build two libraries (liblpstatic.a and liblp.so) the static and the dynamic version; and one test program (test) that send some bytes to the parallel port.
Bugs:
In some systems, Liblp doesnt compile due a little change in the includes for ioperm. Just walk into liblp.h and comment/uncomment the include for system.h and io.h.
Its pretty simple;)
I have to write some serious Documentation
This library has been tested over the following hardware:
486 DX/50
Pentium II 400
Pentium III 650
So I think this will work in any PC-Compatible computer.
WARNINGS about HARDWARE
You will need a parallel cable extensor (a lp cable just doesnt work) o plug the cables directly to the PC boards connector.
Be careful with the tension applied to the port, you can just burn out the PC motherBoard; To protect the board, just build a diode bridge (Im computer ingenieer, no a electronic guy)
RESOURCES
Kernel Sources
Some hardware tech documents
My Inspiration
LibLp has been use to command a PIC microcontroller programmer; a Robot Interface, and some electronic circuits.

Proxifier 1.0 RC3
Proxifier project is an easy to install three tier web proxy written in PHP. more>>
Proxifier project is an easy to install three tier web proxy written in PHP.
Features include the ability to remove cookies, the HTTP referer field, the HTTP user-agent field, scripts on the page, and objects, altering the user-agent string to whatever you please, and tunnelling your proxied traffic through a second proxy.
If there existed a freely public install of this script, two standard proxies could be used, one entered in the proxy settings of your browser, and one entered into the publicly installed web proxy, to create a connection being passed between three separate proxy servers before hitting the final destination.
Most web sites should be supported by this web proxy. If a site doesnt seem to be supported, please email me. Please note, however, that most AJAX applications will probably have problems with Proxifier, so dont attempt to use anything like GMail or Meebo.
DO NOT USE THIS PROXY AS OF NOW TO ACCESS ANY SENSITIVE INFORMATION, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CREDIT CARD INFORMATION, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS, SENSITIVE PASSWORDS, AND OTHER SIMILAR THINGS! Currently, SSL/TLS is supported through just entering a URL in the field. BEWARE: This does NOT secure your connection to the proxy server as of yet, only the connection from the proxy server to the web server the request is going to! This might create a false sense of security for some people, as your passwords are being passed openly without encryption through the Internet.
Enhancements:
- A major bug has been fixed where certain versions of the PCRE library would have issue with one of the regular expressions, causing many pages to not load at all.
- A bug where the base HTML tag was being parsed incorrectly has been fixed.
- Some instances of preg_match() have been replaced with other functions that were more efficient for the circumstances.

MiniUPnP Client and Daemon 1.0 RC7
MiniUPnP Client and Daemon is an UPnP IGD client lightweight library and UPnP IGD daemon. more>>
MiniUPnP Client and Daemon is an UPnP IGD client lightweight library and UPnP IGD daemon.
The UPnP protocol is supported by most home adsl/cable routers and Windows 2K/XP. The aim of the MiniUpnp project is to bring a free software solution to support the "Internet Gateway Device" part of the protocol.
The Linux SDK for UPnP devices (libupnp) seems too heavy for me. I want the simplest library possible, with the smallest footprint and no dependencies to other libraries such as XML parsers or HTTP implementations. All the code is pure ANSI C.
Compiled on a x86 PC, the miniupnp client library have less than 15KB code size. For instance, the upnpc sample program is around 20KB.
The project is divided in two main parts : the client library, enabling applications to access the services provided by an UPnP "Internet Gateway Device" present on the network, and the miniupnpd daemon, providing these services to your network from a linux or bsd box being the gateway. At the moment the miniupnpd is developped on OpenBSD 3.0+ with pf. You can see some of the work I have done to integrate with pf on this page.
As pf is also available under FreeBSD, guys at the pfSense project have ported miniupnpd to this system.
For some reasons, it may be not the good solution for you to use the code from the MiniUPnP project directly.
As the code is small and simple to understand, it is a good base to take inspiration for your own UPnP implementation. The KTorrent team UPnP plugin in C++ is a good example.
If you are wondering which home router is working with the miniupnp client, you can find the answer here. In fact, you are more likely to help me fill the list by sending me an email.
Usefulness of the miniUPnP client library
The usage of the miniUPnP client library is useful whenever an application needs to listen for incoming connections.
Examples : P2P applications, FTP clients for active mode, IRC (for DCC) or IM applications, network games, any server.
The typical usage of UPnP capabilities of a router is a file tranfert using MSN messenger. The MSN Messenger software uses the UPnP API of Windows XP to open port for incoming connection. To mimic the MS software, it is a good idea to use UPnP as well.
Enhancements:
- This release adds changes to accommodate the Linux 2.6.22 kernel.

R.I.P. 2.9
Recovery Is Possible (RIP) is a Slackware-based CD or floppy boot/rescue/backup/maintenance system. more>>
Recovery Is Possible (RIP) is a Slackware-based CD or floppy boot/rescue/backup/maintenance system. It has support for a lot of filesystem types (Reiserfs, Reiser4, ext2/3, iso9660, UDF, XFS, JFS, UFS, HPFS, HFS, MINIX, MS DOS, NTFS, and VFAT) and contains a bunch of utilities for system recovery.
R.I.P. also has IDE/SCSI/SATA, PCMCIA, RAID, LVM2, and Ethernet/DSL/cable/PPP/PPPOE network support.
The bootable CD image `RIP-12.4.iso.bin can be written to a CD/DVD disk, using cdrecord/dvdrecord etc.
The 2.6.11.6 kernel has IDE/SATA and SCSI support. The kernel also has PCMCIA, LVM2, RAID, and Ethernet/cable/dsl/ppp/ pppoe/wireless networking support.
These are some of the programs it contains (partimage/partimaged, parted, dump/restore, reiserfsck, fsck.reiser4, fdisk, cfdisk, sfdisk, mke2fs, e2fsck, tune2fs, debugfs, mkfs.xfs, jfs_mkfs, jfs_fsck, xfs_repair, cdrecord/dvdrecord, mkisofs, dvd+rw-format, growisofs, ntfsresize, mkntfs, lynx, mutt, fetchmail, pop3spam, popselect, ncftp, epic irc, tin, telnet, wget, naim, zgv, testdisk, smbclient, smbmount, ssh/sshd, rsync, udp-sender/receiver, lde, blesstivo, rtvpatch, chntpw, cmospwd, grub, grubconfig, smartctl, memtest86, captive-ntfs, ddrescue, dd_rescue, acpitool, dmidecode, hwinfo, lshw, ethtool)
It also includes the DVD udf filesystem packet writing tools (cdrwtool, mkudffs, pktsetup).
The reiserfsck and fsck.reiser4 programs are used to check and repair a Linux reiserfs and reiser4 filesystem.
The xfs_repair program is used to repair a Linux xfs filesystem.
The jfs_fsck program is used to check and repair a Linux jfs filesystem.
The e2fsck program is used to check and repair a Linux ext2 or ext3 filesystem.
The ntfsresize program non-destructively resizes Windows XP/2000/NT4 or Windows Server 2003 NTFS filesystems. Read /usr/doc/RIP/ntfsresize.txt on the rescue system.
The parted program is used for creating, destroying, resizing (fat16/32, ext2/3, reiserfs v3.6), checking and copying partitions, and the file systems on them. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems, reorganising disk usage, copying data between hard disks and disk imaging.
The partition image program partimage saves partitions in the ext2, ext3, reiserfs, jfs, xfs, ufs, ntfs, fat16, and fat32 formats to an image file. Only used blocks are copied to save space and increase the speed. The image file can be compressed, in gzip or bzip2 formats.

qadsl 1.3.3
qadsl is a small utility to login on the Telia AB ADSL service. more>>
qadsl is a small utility to login on the Telia AB ADSL service. It also works good with COMHEM Cable Internet and Tiscali Internet services.
It should be pointed out, however, that Alive is not limited to only Orbyte-based login servers. It is quite generic, see the alive.conf file for helpful hints and pointers. The --debug and --verbose options to alive is also very useful.
See the download section for the latest .tar.gz and .deb packages.
RedHat/Fedora developer? The source packages include a home brew .spec file that we could use some help with to complete. It would be so much easier to supply pre-built .rpms as well.
GNU Alive is tested before each release on the following currently supported platforms:
Slackware 9.1 (i386)
Mandrake 9.2 (i386)
Debian GNU/Linux (i386/Sarge)
Debian GNU/Hurd (i386/Sid)
FreeBSD 5.1 (alpha)
NetBSD 1.6 (i386)
OpenBSD 3.6 (i386)
CygWin (win32)
Enhancements:
- NEWS: Cleanup.
- TODO: Note on how --debug should imply --verbose.
- src/process.c (process): Cleanup and add more logging, all in favour of new logging scheme.
- src/main.c (main): New command line option, -d, --debug. In favour of this and the new logging stuff verbose level adjusted accordingly.

GNU Alive is tested before each release on the following currently supported platforms:
Slackware 9.1 (i386)
Mandrake 9.2 (i386)
Debian GNU/Linux (i386/Sarge)
Debian GNU/Hurd (i386/Sid)
FreeBSD 5.1 (alpha)
NetBSD 1.6 (i386)
OpenBSD 3.6 (i386)
CygWin (win32)
Enhancements:
- NEWS: Cleanup.
- TODO: Note on how --debug should imply --verbose.
- src/process.c (process): Cleanup and add more logging, all in favour of new logging scheme.
- src/main.c (main): New command line option, -d, --debug. In favour of this and the new logging stuff verbose level adjusted accordingly.

Cobex 0.2.13
Cobex is a small implementation of the OBEX communication protocol for slow serial cables. more>>
Cobex is a small implementation of the OBEX communication protocol for slow serial cables. Its primary use is to communicate with cell phones such as the Sony Ericsson T610, T310, and T300.
Currently the project consists of a couple of headerfiles and some sourcefiles, which results in a small executable that can be used to send files to a SonyEricsson T3x0, and probably other SonyEricsson models. Fetching files is NOT implemented. In fact, its not even implemented (or at least not working) in the phone...
Its not a full-scale, foolproof, ironclad implementation of Obex. Check out OpenObex instead. They even have a v1.0!
Install the required libraries . If they are not installed in the usual places, you will have
to modify the Makefile. Come on, a configure script with all its fluff would be several
times larger than this entire project.
When ezV24 and expat are in place, do a simple "make" and the project should build.
Should you need to change the baudrate, you have to edit the files and recompile. It is
set to 115200 in cobex_serial.h baud by default.
Cobex does handle port locking using lockfiles. Unfortunately, f.ex. Fedora Core 3 does not, at least not very well. So, therefore port locking is turned of by default. You can enable it by editing the Makefile, and removing the hashmark infront of the LOCKSERIAL definition.
You can use it with following commands:
cobex_get
cobex_ls
cobex_put
cobex_rm

Local IP Takeover 1.2
Local IP Takeover provides network link redundancy within a single server that has multiple network interface cards. more>>
Local IP Takeover provides network link redundancy within a single server that has multiple network interface cards (NICs) with each NIC connected to separate network switches.
If the primary NIC fails (i.e. it cannot ping its default gateway), the "service" IP (the IP that the outside world connects to) will automatically float to the secondary NIC and a specially crafted ARP (utilizing send_arp) will be broadcast on the local network, thereby instructing all other hosts to update their local ARP cache.
The result is minimal service downtime. Plus, no manual intervention is required in the event that a network card, cable, or switch breaks.
Enhancements:
- The initialization step is more robust and it doesnt allow lipt to abort its execution. Instead, lipt should recover to a sane state eventually (within less than half a minute under normal circumstances).
- Other minor fixes were made.

watchDhcp 1.0
watchDhcp is a simple script that lets you watch and react to a change in the systems IP address. more>>
watchDhcp is a simple script that lets you watch and react to a change in the systems IP address. It is useful for automatically reconfiguring NAT, DNS, and firewall services.]
This script has been written to help keep an unattended OpenBSD box working as a firewall on a cable modem. The box gets its IP through DHCP, and as such this can change. When the IP changes, there have been problems with NAT and IPF -- so these are restarted/reconfigured. Since the DNS records must also be updated, when the IP changes this information is mailed to a sent admin address, so the machine is never "lost".
Whenever something else comes up that mucks up the machine, I add it to this script. So far so good, five months and counting.

History
Along about 1997 or so, our company (a cable/ISP owned by a newspaper) began serving mod_perl apps to staff and customers. A framework developed and flourished. It was simple, explicit, and fast enough for the high-volume sites run by our parent newspaper. As time passed, improvements were made until a second version was conceived and deployed.
Finally, in August of 2005, a third revision was completed which is now available as an open source product (under the standard Perl license). The new version has lots of new features and removes some of the arcana that built up over the previous six or so years. Notably, it gained an MVC structure and some nifty automated CRUD. But the newly released third version, now called Gantry, retains simplicity, explicitness, speedy throughput, and the ability to host complex projects.
Main features:
- a central mod_perl handler all apps may inherit (Gantry.pm)
- CGI/FastCGI support (Gantry::Engine::CGI)
- automated CRUD (create, retrieve, update, delete) for straightforward tables (Gantry::Plugins::AutoCRUD)
- flexible CRUD for the sophisticated parts of applications (Gantry::Plugins::CRUD)
- easy date entry (via javascript code in form.tt)
