zlib 1.2.3

zlib 1.2.3

zlib is a compression/decompression Library. more>>
zlib is designed to be a free, general-purpose, legally unencumbered, lossless data-compression library for use on virtually any computer hardware and operating system. The zlib data format is portable across platforms.
Unlike the LZW compression method used in Unix compress, the compression method currently used in zlib essentially never expands the data. (LZW can double or triple the file size in extreme cases.) zlibs memory footprint is also independent of the input data and can be reduced, if necessary, at some cost in compression.
Main features:
- inflate is about 20% faster and minimizes memory allocation
- crc32 is about 50% faster
- New, improved, and supported DLL interface and DLL FAQ
- New functions and functionality:
- deflate() and inflate() will now optionally encode and decode gzip streams
- raw deflate() and inflate() now documented and supported
- New inflateBack() functions for call-back interface -- faster than inflate()
- Z_BLOCK flush option and new return information added to inflate to facilitate appending to deflate streams
- raw deflate() now accepts a dictionary -- for appending
- deflatePrime() for starting deflate output mid-byte -- for appending
- Z_RLE strategy for run-length encoding -- option for PNG compression
- gzclearerr() and gzungetc(), analogous to stdio functions
- inflateCopy() added, analogous to deflateCopy()
- deflateBound() and compressBound() for maximum size of compressed data
- zlibCompileFlags() to provide compilation information
- More supported architectures and improved shared library support
- Many more FAQ entries
- Several new and updated contributions in the contrib directory

gui4j 1.2.3

gui4j 1.2.3

gui4j is a framework for describing Java Swing GUIs completely in XML. more>>
gui4j is a framework for describing Java Swing GUIs completely in XML.

The graphical user interface is created dynamically based on the XML definitions. Each GUI window is associated with exactly one top-level XML file. Each XML file can dynamically include other XML files to support complex GUI definitions.

Each XML file is associated with a java object that acts as both a Controller and a Model for the GUI.

There is a strong layer separation between the GUI and the Controller: GUI definitions in the XML files can access all Java methods of the Controller, but Java methods cannot access any GUI elements directly.

Events are used to trigger changes in the GUI.

moftpd 1.2.3

moftpd 1.2.3

moftpd is a powerful ftp server supporting IPv6, TLS, SQL and much more. more>>
moftpd project is a powerful ftp server supporting IPv6, SQL, TLS and much more.
Main features:
RFC compiance
moftpd is a very RFC compliant server. supporting all standard commands and all protocols except SKIPJACK-KEA encryption. Included standards are IPv6, TLS encryption and verification, UTF-8, internationalisation and more.
Powerful authentication
moftpd includes powerful control over authenticating users. In addition to the system users you can specify any number of users in the configuration file, and put permissions on directories and files on a per user bases (or group of users).
You can let users connect to different servers based on the client ip address, and a compliant client can choose server upon connect if theres several available.
moftpd can also authenticate users based on the certificate they present when encrypting the connection. This is useful as you can restrict an account to only be allowed with a specific private key.
There is also support for SQL (currently MySQL only) for specifying users and directory permissions.
Strong permission system
As mentioned above, file and directory permissions can be specified individually for each user and directory. You can choose between a real or faked chroot, and if using the latter, allow specific symlinks out of the chroot to access other directories.
You can also put restrictions on critical files, which must be encrypted and/or signed during the transfer. File and directory permissions can also be fetched from SQL.
Internationalisation
moftpd is fully compliant with the specification of running FTP in different languages. So far, only Swedish is implemented, but more is easy to add.
moftpd always run in UTF-8 as per the RFC, but has functions for converting file names and commands in different encodings to UTF-8.
Good documentaion
An easy to navigate html documentation is included and is also available here on the homepage. For those that prefer text documents that is also available and the HTML code for the options are actually generated from an included XML source.

RSSOwl 1.2.3

RSSOwl 1.2.3

RSSOwl is an RSS/RDF/Atom newsreader that uses SWT. more>>
Applications that collect data from RSS-compliant sites are called RSS readers or "aggregators" RSSOwl is such an application.
RSSOwl lets you gather, organize, update, and store information from any compliant source in a convenient, easy to use interface, save selected information in various formats for offline viewing and sharing, and much more.
Its easy to configure, available in many many languages and the best of all: Its platform-independent.
RSS ("Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary") is a document specification that gives users the power to collect and organize Web-based news and information in a more efficient manner.
The owl is a traditional symbol of wisdom, and a quiet, efficient hunter. Youll find RSSOwls "big eyes" a big help when scanning the Webs vast array of RSS sources.
Main features:
- Import your favorite newsfeeds using the OPML format. Most newsreaders support the export of newsfeeds via OPML, making it very easy to switch to RSSOwl and have your bookmarked favorites inside RSSOwl.
- Bookmark your favorite newsfeeds in nested categories. Set properties like "auto-update-interval", "open on startup" or "reload on startup".
- RSSOwl helps you finding a suitable title for your favorites. Just click the "Grab title from newsfeed" button and RSSOwl will scan the newsfeed for the title and use it for the new favorite.
- Create collections of newsfeeds other may subscribe to. A subscription is a file that contains newsfeeds. Placing the subscription online will allow others to subscribe to that collection and have the same newsfeeds inside RSSOwl. The subscription is updated each time RSSOwl is starting.
- Switch on the internal browser to read news that contain HTML. Some newsfeeds use this kind of technique to include images and links.
- Select a newsfeed, a single news or an entire category of newsfeeds to export the content into one of the formats PDF, RTF or HTML. When exporting news into PDF, RSSOwl will create bookmarks showing the titles of all news. These are very helpfull when searching for a particular news inside the PDF document.
- RSSOwls internal panels are highly customizable. Choose between a 2-column and a 3-column layout. Hide and restore the tree containing all favorites and the quickview box. Maximize the tabfolder with a single click in order to view a website inside the internal browser with full size.
- A lot of search-options make RSSOwl a powerful application to search inside a newsfeed or an entire category. The boolean operators "and", "or" and "not" may be combined with the search-term. Common options to only match a whole word, regard case-sensitivity or to use regular expressions are allowed. Results are displayed in the tabfolder and each keyword is highlighted inside the newstext.
- AmphetaRate is a centralized ratings/recommendation service that provides personalized news and blog recommendations. Each news found in your subscribed feeds may be rated "Fantastic", "Good", "Moderate", "Bad" and "Very bad". Your recommendations are computed by Bayesian filtering and an algorithm finding people who share your taste.
- The integrated newsfeed-search engine allows to search for newsfeeds by keyword. Simply enter words like "News" or "Linux" and press the search button. Soon the engine will give out a list of newsfeeds. It is also possible to restrict the search to only match newsfeeds that have the same language that RSSOwl has set. Once the search has finished, import all of them into any category with a single click.
- Tired of copying and pasting newsfeeds out of a website into your newsreader? Simply enter the website containing links to newsfeeds into the feed-discovery and RSSOwl will show all the newsfeeds it has found. Import them into any category with a single click. Or enter the URL to an OPML file and gain access to its newsfeeds - its a breeze!
- The integrated feedvalidator allows to check the validity of a newsfeed. Any error or warning is shown inside the validator, together with the line-number. This feature makes the perfect tool for bloggers as theyre able to test their newsfeeds. RSSOwl provides support for RSS 0.91, 0.92 and 2.0 straight "out of the box".
- Access password protected newsfeeds. RSSOwl 1.0 is supporting the Base authentication which is the original and most compatible authentication scheme. But be prepared for RSSOwl 1.1 coming soon which will also support Digest and NTLM authentication that was introduced with HTTP 1.1.
- A small toolbar above the tree containing all favorites allowes to execute the commands "Reload All Favorites", "Aggregate All Favorites", "Search in all Favorites" and "Mark All Favorites Read". Believe us, its a handy feature. :-)
- Place RSSOwl into the system tray on minimization. As soon as RSSOwl is reloading a newsfeed and detects that new, unread news are available it will tell you so.
- RSSOwl is highly customizable. "Preferences" allow to change fonts, languages, colors, hotkeys and a lot more. Export settings into a file to import them into RSSOwl on a different computer. Switch fonts or make yourself comfortable with RSSOwl by choosing one of the 25 languages available - everything is just a few clicks away!

OpenDMTP 1.2.3

OpenDMTP 1.2.3

OpenDMTP is a protocol and framework that allows bi-directional data communications. more>>
OpenDMTP is a protocol and framework that allows bi-directional data communications between servers and devices (clients) over the Internet and similar networks.
OpenDMTP is particularly geared towards Location-based information (LBS) such as GPS, as well as temperature and other data collected in remote-monitoring devices. OpenDMTP is small, and is especially suited for micro-devices such as PDAs, mobile phones, and custom OEM devices.
We saw a need for a communications protocol that allowed high-latency, low-bandwidth (HL/LB) devices to transmit location data to monitoring-systems. Because these devices often have limited network connectivity, the protocol needed to be small and efficient.
Example devices include mobile phones, PDAs, OEM micro-devices (alarm systems, temperature monitors, etc.), and more.
There are many mobile GPS tracking devices on the market today with their own closed proprietary protocols. Searching the web for open protocols revealed only a few available for transferring data (including GPS information) between devices.
However these solutions are generally designed for non-mobile applications and lack some of the low-bandwidth, configurable, and extensible features that mobile applications require.
Main features:
Small Footprint: Mobile devices typically have limited resources on which to run client code (ie. memory, processor speed). An open protocol designed with this in mind should be optimized to allow efficient implementation and should support devices such as PDAs, mobile phones, GPS monitoring devices, and other OEM micro-devices.
Network Efficient: Because mobile devices typically have limited network connectivity, the protocol needs to be efficient in its dialog between the client and server. The communication needs to be optimized such that the necessary information can be conveyed with a minimum number of bytes in the least amount of time.
Bi-directional: Some devices can support two-way communication (ie. GPRS, or other socket based connections), while others may only support one-way communication (ie. some satellite communication systems). With this in mind, a protocol should be designed to support both duplex (two-way) and simplex (one-way) communication.
Transport Media: Differrent mobile applications will have their own unique way of communicating data back to the server. Some may use GPRS, or socket based communication, others may use satellite communication, while still others may use other forms of wireless communication, such as BlueTooth. The design of the protocol should be able to encompass all such transport media types, regardless of the type of transport in use.
Flexible Data Encoding: Most types of transport media allow for the transmission of binary encoded data. However, there may be some forms of media for which an ASCII encoded data packet is much better suited. A protocol designed with this in mind should be able to support both types of data encoding.
Configurable Messages: Due to the broad range of data types used in mobile applications, the protocol should be flexible enough to define standard messages, yet still allow custom messages within the framework.
Extensible: Not every mobile application is the same. Some require special handling and may have various types of inputs and outputs. A protocol designed for mobile applications should insure that the framework can be easily extended to incapsulate the specific needs of the device.
Industry Compatibility: Having an open protocol insures better compatibility between different client devices and service providers.
Reference Implementation: Having a reference implementation that showcases the major features of the protocol provides an easy starting point on which developers can add their own features and platform specific implementation without having to worry about how data gets from the client to the server.
Enhancements:
- Added additional logging for any errors returned by closedir, fflush, fclose.
- Additional changes made to facilitate dual transport support.
- Property PROP_COMM_HOST no longer uses localhost as a default. Also, if this property remains undefined during deployment, no events will be queued.
- When Geozone arrival/departure delay is in effect, the generated event will be the time and GPS fix of the moment that the geozone boundary crossing was detected.

jMemorize 1.2.3

jMemorize 1.2.3

jMemorize manages your whole learning progress and features statistics, categories and a visually appealing. more>>
jMemorize is a Java application that manages your flashcards by the famous Leitner system and makes memorizing facts not only more efficient but also more fun. jMemorize manages your whole learning progress and features statistics, categories and a visually appealing and intuitive interface.
The basic idea is to divide the cards into different decks depending on the difficulty they present to you. This is done by repetitive quizzes in which you try to answer the question out of your mind. Every time you know the correct answer to a card, it is put on the next higher card deck. If you fail at a card, it is put back to the starting deck.
This system is combined with time schedules. Cards that have been known, are considered to be learned until a specific expiration date has passed. The higher the deck, the more far away the expiration date is set.
For example might a card that has been successfully checked for the first time be scheduled to be relearned one day later again, while a card that has been correctly answered three times in a row might be considered as learned for about week. As long as a card is considered learned, it wont appear in learn sessions.
As a whole, this system manages your personal learn sessions and allows you to focus on learning, while it automatically decides which facts should be learned right now to make the most out of your time.
Main features:
- Create, edit, remove and reset cards.
- Arrange cards by creating card categories.
- Have a visual representation of your current learn situation.
- Customize your learn session setting in nearly every way imaginable. This includes the abilities (among others) to..
- choose which category to learn.
- choose to learn only new cards, expired cards or all cards.
- choose card/time limits.
- choose whether you want learn cards in normal mode, with flipped card sides or randomly flipped card sides.
- choose from different preset time schedules or enter you own custom time schedule.
- Search through your cards with the find tool.
- And much more..
