PyCHM 0.8.4
PyCHM is a set of Python bindings for Jed Wings chmlib. more>>
PyCHM is a set of Python bindings for Jed Wings chmlib. These bindings are used by GnoCHM, a CHM file viewer for GNOME 2.
The chm package contains four modules, namely chm.chm, chm.chmlib, chm.extra and chm._chmlib. chm.chmlib is a low level wrapper module around the API provided by the C library chmlib. Quoted from Jeds README:
chmlib is a small library designed for accessing MS ITSS files. The ITSS file format is used for Microsoft Html Help files (.chm), which have been the predominant medium for software documentation from Microsoft during the past several years, having superceded the previously used .hlp file format.
chm.chm provides some high level functionality over chm.chmlib, such as access to the .chm file contents tree.
chm.extra contains extra functionality to allow detection encodings in the CHM archives and to support full-text search.

Simba 0.8.4
Simba is file mirroring tool that allows a great deal of control over the mirrored content. more>>
Simba is file mirroring tool that allows a great deal of control over the mirrored content and, most importantly, more control over reporting. Simba project allows you to create Web pages with mirror status, RSS news feeds, Google sitemaps, and more.
There are many institution who offer mirroring services to the community. Most of them are using shell scripts to synchronize the content with the master servers. This approach has some major limitations:
- dificult maintainance
- no usefull reports
- no data presented to the final user
- and more
Simba, was created to get more control over the mirrored content and (the most important part) more control over the reports you can made using the mirrored content data.
Using simba, you can create web pages with mirrors status, rss news feeds, google sitemaps and, if you know some perl programming, everything you need and you think is useful for you and your company.
This website is dedicated to Simba. Here you will find usefull information about this software and usefull resources.
Enhancements:
- The max_files parameter was removed since it was a little confusing.
- max_transfered and max_deleted paramters have been added to GenHTML plugin.
- Also, MaxTransfered, MaxDeleted, and MaxLimits template parameters were added.
- Two new plugins were added: CheckLastUpdate (a small but useful plugin which gives you a list of outdated mirrors) and Metalink (a plugin which generates metalinks with the new content).
- The website was updated to reflect the new plugins and parameters.

mrepo 0.8.4
mrepo (ex YAM) builds a local APT/Yum RPM repository from local ISO files. more>>
It takes care of setting up the ISO files, downloading the RPMs, configuring HTTP access and providing PXE/TFTP resources for remote network installations.
It was primarily intended for doing remote network installations of various distributions from a laptop without the need for CD media or floppies, but is equally suitable for an organisations centralized update server.
Doing a remote installation only requires a configured DHCP-server, the TFTP service and a Webserver configured with mrepo. Then boot your system using a PXE-enabled network card.
For updating your local systems, configure either Smart, Apt, Yum or up2date and point them to your local mrepo server.
Main features:
- Easy Yum-alike configuration
- Supports mirroring using FISH, FTP, HTTP, RSYNC, SFTP and RHN
- Supports Smart, Apt, Yum and up2date (as well as synaptic, yumgui and other derivatives)
- Can download and distribute updates from RHN channels
- Can work directly from ISO images (so you dont need extra diskspace to store ISOs or copy RPMs)
- Supports Red Hat, Fedora Core, Red Hat Enterprise (TaoLinux, CentOS) and Yellow Dog Linux out of the box
- Will probably work with other RPM based distributions (feedback needed, please mail me)
- Allows for remote network installation (using a PXE-enabled NIC on target systems)
- Support for 3rd party repositories and vendor packages
- Allows to maintain your own customized (corporate) repository
- Allow for chaining mrepo servers in large organisations with remote sites
- Can hardlink duplicate packages (to save precious diskspace)
Enhancements:
- The project was renamed from Yam to mrepo.
- Ready-to-use distribution configurations were improved.
- Proxy support was added to RHN support (rhnget).
- A new rhnget-cleanup directive allows the user to automatically clean up old packages.
- A Scientific Linux distribution configuration was added.
- Fixes were made to make RHN support work on CentOS.

LavaPE 0.8.4
LavaPE is a programming environment for the experimental object-oriented programming language Lava. more>>
LavaPE is a programming environment for the experimental object-oriented programming language Lava. It replaces text editing with structure editing, thereby preventing all syntactic and many semantic errors.
The pure point-and-click nature of Lava programming and the concise representation of programs as declaration trees with small chunks of executable code simplify programming, and ease comprehension.
The new Lava language attempts to combine the advantages of either, and also to propose solutions to a number of fundamental problems that are hard to solve and that have been more or less ignored therefore by other languages so far.
Clearly this cannot be achieved by essentially combining individual features of Java and Visual Basic and by adding further features. A completely new language had to be developed from scratch.
Lava attempts to overcome the "ancient" programming technology that is based on text editors and that requires detailed knowledge and meticulous observation of the syntactic rules of the respective language.
Structure editing has many advantages over text editing and has the potential to considerably increase the programmers productivity.
The conceptual framework of object-orientation can still be improved considerably in several respects:
- Interfaces and implementations should be strictly separated. (Remember Modula-2 and Ada!)
- Two categories of objects, state and value objects, should be distinguished.
- A unified view of object- and component-orientation should be provided.
- "Genericity" and design patterns should be supported properly.
- The necessity of "type-casts" should be overcome.
The general conceptual framework of programming languages calls for additional improvements:
- The data flow of programs can be clarified by "single-assignment" just as the control flow has been clarified by abandoning "go to".
- We need an application-level pointer notion to distinguish "constituents" and "acquaintances" of objects.
- "Embedded SQL" should be finally replaced by seamlessly integrated expressive means for database access,
- Multi-threading, transactions, and synchronization should be treated in a purely declarative way.
- Programming languages should become "organization-aware" and "security-aware".
Enhancements:
- We have completely rewritten the Lava "callback" support, roughly after the model of the "signal/slot" concept of TrollTechs Qt. This is a first step towards an extended Lava GUI builder that will support also mainframe windows, menus, toolbars and callbacks.
- Lava is more portable now. It can be built on the Windows XP, Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris (sparc station and x86, g++), and Mac OS X.2 platforms. It has been tested, so far, on Windows XP, Linux and FreeBSD. Please tell us if it runs also on the other platforms (and also if not).
- You can now benefit from "precompiled headers" if you use the g++ compiler (g++ release 3.4 or higher).
- For the Windows platform we have migrated to the NullSoft Install System (NSIS).
- We have added a method "zombifyRec" (zombify recursively) to class "Object" as a further aid for deactivating whole collections of objects containing circular forward references.

w3Chess 0.8.4
w3Chess is a Web and Mail based chess. more>>
w3Chess is a Web- and Mail- based chess board. I built this to play chess over Internet with my friends. If you play chess via E-Mail, you have several problems:
- You need a chessboard in your house for every opponent
- You could drop your board down an loose the actual piece positions
- You can set a piece wrong and your boards doesnt look like your opponents one anymore
I searched for such programs but the I only found chess-servers, or tools which depends on sql-databases and javascript.
But I hate Java-Script and I hate huge dependencies for small solutions.
Main features:
- few dependencies (its written in c)
- high compatiblity (its written in c, should also work under unfree Gaming Systems from Redmond)
- it should run fast (its written in c)
- it should need less system ressources (do i have to say it ?)
- it should display the actual board via (any) Web-Browser (no JavaScript, even lynx should do it)
- you should have the moves stored at home (E-Mail-Notifications....)
- you shouldnt be able to do wrong moves
- you shouldnt do moves if it is not your turn
- the administration should be easy (old games are removed after nn days)
- the usage should be easy (no "cosmetic" features, easy translation)
- you should be able to search for an opponent
- your pieces should be at the bottom
Supported languages:
- German
- English
- Italian, thanks to Carlo !
- Brazilian Portuguese, thanks to Fabio !
- Spanish, thanks to Pablo !
Enhancements:
- charset-Tag in Mail-Header

libnodave 0.8.4
Libnodave is a free library to connect to and exchange data with PLCs from the Siemens S7-200, S7-300, S5, and 400 families. more>>
Libnodave is a GPL licensed library to connect to and exchange data with PLCs from the Siemens S7-200, S7-300, S5, and 400 families.
The PLCs of the S7-300 and S7-400 family have a so called MPI (multipoint) interface. This interface is mainly used to program the device, but can also be used to read and write data from and to the PLC.
The physical layer of the MPI interface is a two wire line operated with differential voltage like RS422 or RS485. More than two devices can be connected to that line. The data flow is bidirectional. The baud rate is normally 187.5 kBaud, but you may select others.
Because no standard PC hardware can do these baud rates, you cannot use a simple signal level converter. You will allways need an adapter from Siemens or another vendor. These adapters are "intelligent" devices built around some microprocessor. They talk MPI to the PLC and something else to your PC. The rest of this document is about this "something else".
Enhancements:
- This release incorporates some bugfixes and suggestions from users.
- Most affected: AS511, S7online, and .Net bindings.

SMB for FUSE 0.8.4
SMB for FUSE is a tool for mounting the network neighbourhood. more>>
With SMB for Fuse you can seamlessly browse your network neighbourhood as were it on your own filesystem.
Instead of mounting one Samba share at a time, you mount all workgroups, hosts and shares at once. Only when youre accessing a share a connection is made.
Main features:
- Browsing workgroups/hosts and shares from any application
- Streaming of files (movies/music)
- Browsing the network is fast because all hosts and shares are cached
Other solutions as GnomeVFS or KIO slaves provide a similar solution, but have a few disadvantages:
- Programs need to be rewritten to make them network transparent.
- KIO Slaves cannot stream files making movie/music playing over LAN impossible.
- Gnome VFS just is unstable on my system, although is offers streaming.
- Automounting shares is possible, but you cannot see more than 8 at a time, because NT Workstation limits the number of connections its also a lot slower.
