Nuhe 0.03

Nuhe 0.03

Nuhe is a rule based log monitoring system, which is capable of action when rules are matched againsts log(s) activity. more>>
Nuhe is a rule based log monitoring system, which is capable of action when rules are matched againsts log(s) activity. Default Nuhe mode is to run on background (daemon), but it can also be used in foreground and log analyzer mode. Log analyzer mode just analyzes given logs and prints results to stdout; no action is taken when Nuhe is in analyzer mode.
Motive for Nuhe development started from security point of view and one purpose is to use it as a intrusion protection system that can react against certain kind of log activity. You can also use Nuhe as a vanilla "log filtering" system, that detects events from logs, logs them, but does not react against them.
One example of Nuhe usage is to use rule that detects multiple SSH connection attemps and drops IP address (e.g. with Linux iptables) where connections are coming. Nuhe is very handy in this situation, because user can configure it to ignore important IP addresses, so theyre not blocked by firewall and specify events to be indentified only by IP address information.
With that rule and action handler user can paralyze brute force attacks. However Nuhe can be described as a general rule based monitoring system which can run system commands in phases based on time and event criteria and hopefully this gives many areas of use for it.
Enhancements:
- Added reset string functionality for actions, reset strings are used to to discard associated events.
- With "lastmsg" parameter (in nuhed.conf) you can match syslog "last message repeated n times" string. Nuhe process previous syslog entry as many times as it was repeated.
- More support for upcoming nodemanager and some bug fixes and changes.

etvis is a demo viewer/commenter for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory FPS game. more>>
etvis is a demo viewer/commenter for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory FPS game.
Demos recorded with ET can be sorted, renamed, deleted, and viewed. Comments can be stored for each demo individually.
Comments will remain no matter if a demo-file gets renamed by etvis or by another application.
For now you have to edit some things by hand before compiling, this will be changed in a later release:
Edit src/main.h EXECPARAMS for options to give to ET
src/main.c line 174 for the dir that is filled with your demos
src/main.c line 184 for your ET executable
Usage:
double-click on the filename to rename it
delete-key to delete the selected demo files
double-click views the selected demo in ET
Enhancements:
- A demo file can now be given as a command line parameter to omit the GUI, which is nice for associating etvis with .dm_84 files in your favorite file manager.
- In addition, basic gettext functionality was added.

uvlan 0.03

uvlan 0.03

uvlan is a project consisting of a User-space Virtual Local Area Network. more>>
uvlan is a project consisting of a User-space Virtual Local Area Network.
In other words, uvlan peers act as nodes on a network switch. Ethernet traffic is routed between peers intelligently. This allows for multiple networks to share resources and even IP address space.
Some may call it a VPN (Virtual Private Network) application, but its much more powerful: it is peer-to-peer, is much simpler, and operates at layer 2 (ethernet). VPNs generally operate at layer-3 (IP), and layer 2 applications like gaming cant be supported with layer 3 tunneling.
Differences with traditional VPN technology:
- It is peer-to-peer
- It doesnt require licensing
- It is much simpler
- It operates at Layer-2 (Ethernet), VPNs generally operate at Layer-3 (IP) Layer-2 applications like gaming cant be supported with Layer-3 tunneling.

PySBIG can read SBIG CCD files and give you a Numeric array for the data and a dictionary for the headers. more>>
PySBIG project can read SBIG CCD files and give you a Numeric array for the data and a dictionary for the headers.
There is cPySBIG (since version 0.02) which is 40 times faster than the pure PySBIG module, also included. Version 0.03 now works with numpy instead of Numeric.
Example Usage:
import PySBIG
sbig = PySBIG.PySBIG("mysbigfile.st9")
data = sbig.getData() #two dimentional array
headers = sbig.getHeaders() #dictionary
OR
import cPySBIG
sbig = cPySBIG.cPySBIG("mysbigfile.st9")
data = sbig.getData() #two dimentional array
headers = sbig.getHeaders() #dictionary
Enhancements:
- This release uses numpy instead of Numeric.

PShell 0.03

PShell 0.03

PShell provides a small yet powerful UI to a customized secured shell in Perl. more>>
PShell provides a small yet powerful UI to a customized secured shell in Perl.

PShell is a secured shell written entirely in Perl. It has a curses menu interface and a rudimentary commandline interface. The shell has been secured by being placed into a chroot jail and allowed only certain commands or programs to be used (flexibility is added by a configuration file).

The PShell is a menu-driven and secured shell for use with SSH on a linux/UNIX-derivative operating system. Its menu design was taken from another popular menu-driven shell, loginshell.pl.

Although it may appear similar, much code has been added and removed, and with the help of a chroot environment it has become powerfully secured. All in Perl, of course, and liscenced under the GNU GPL.

The original developer of the loginshell program had no such liscence (even though his website differs), which is why i didnt modify much of his existing code where i could.

PicoTK 0.03

PicoTK 0.03

PicoTK is a C GUI toolkit that requires only a minimum of memory resources. more>>
PicoTK is a C GUI toolkit that requires only a minimum of memory resources. It readily works with the RTEMS real time kernel - its minimum complexity and OS independency makes a port to any operating system easy. It is not comparable featurewise with real full blown windowing toolkits like nanoX or Qt/Embedded, but serves the needs for simple memory mapped graphic presentation.
Main features:
- Draw graphical primitives: points, lines, texts (different fonts, fixed and proportionally spaced using any X-Windows font ), filled rectangles, pixmaps
- Driver is easily adaptable to "homebrew" embedded display hardware based on memory-mapped framebuffer
- Generic drivers for 1, 4 and 8 bit per pixel color depth. Readily supporting VGA mode 0x11 (640x480x2), VGA mode 0x13 (320x200x8) and the VESA linear frame buffer modes (480x640x8 to 1280x1024x8) on graphic cards, which support VBE2.0 or higher.
- Framebuffer emulator (fbe) for Linux using shared memory IPC. This is used for the development of the toolkit and can be used for the development of your application as well. That is you can have a simulation version of your application that run under Linux - and look at its emulated screen. Than you can cross-compile the same application for the target system.
- Tool "fontripper" for converting X11 fonts into picoTK fonts. Use "ppmripper" for converting ppm portable pixmaps into picoTK pixmaps. Fonts and Pixmaps are encoded into linkable binaries, i.e. the system will be compiled into a single binary and does not require to have a filesystem.
- Together with RTEMS (www.oarcorp.com) you can have a nice embedded system graphical output solely using GNU technology.
- Use Linux as a development host for cross-compiling and as an emulation environment.
- Allows easy adaption/porting to your favorite operating system or hardware architecture.
Enhancements:
- Extensions to demo application
- Updated HOWTO (currently only the ASCII version is included in the sources)
- Added support for VESA VBE2.0 flat linear frame buffer
- picoTermPrintf(): Added support for VT100/320 Escapes: Change color and move cursor.
- toolkit: Change graphics configuration by changing toolkit/Makefile

GCJ::Cni 0.03

GCJ::Cni 0.03

GCJ::Cni is a Perl module for CNI Bindings to GNU Compiler for Java. more>>
GCJ::Cni is a Perl module for CNI Bindings to GNU Compiler for Java.

SYNOPSIS

Using this module in Perl is similar to using it in C++:
use GCJ::Cni;

if ( GCJ::Cni::JvCreateJavaVM(undef) ) {
die "Failed to initialize JavaVM, cannot continue...";
}

unless ( my $thread_obj = GCJ::Cni::JvAttachCurrentThread(undef, undef) ) {
die "Failed to attach thread, cannot continue...";
}

...

if ( GCJ::Cni::JvDetachCurrentThread() ) {
die "Failed to detach current thread, cannot continue...";
}

This module wraps the GCJ CNI interface for use in Perl. This library is needed to call natively compiled (by way of GCJ) Java classes from Perl. This can be used to write Perl modules in Java instead of the customary C or C++.

Memlockd 0.03

Memlockd 0.03

Memlockd project locks a list of files into RAM so that if the system starts paging excessively the sysadmin will still recover. more>>
Memlockd project locks a list of files into RAM so that if the system starts paging excessively (as the result of a DOS attack or buggy program), the sysadmin will still be able to login to recover it.
The project will lock regular files as well as programs in memory, and for programs, it can optionally lock all shared objects that they are linked against.
Enhancements:
- The daemon now writes a PID file.
- The restart option of the init.d script now starts a new instance unconditionally so that the new instance can kill the old one.
- This means that there is no time window when memlockd is not running.

Findwild 0.03

Findwild 0.03

Findwild is a program to search for files. more>>
Findwild is (yet another) program to search for files. It works quite differently from the other programs you may have used.
This software offers the following search criteria:
- directory path to search, with multiple wildcards placed anywhere
- file name(s) to search for, with multiple wildcards anywhere
- file name(s) to exclude, with multiple wildcards anywhere
- file content string(s) to search for, with multiple wildcards anywhere
- file content string(s) to exclude, with multiple wildcards anywhere
- file modification date within a desired range
- your choice of delimiters that define the file strings to be searched
Search criteria can be saved and recalled. It is relatively easy to modify a query incrementally, to zero-in on the results you need.
Performance Indicators:
+ Search /usr/share/* (69000 files) for all files containing the string thumb* 193 files found, 89 seconds
+ Modify the query to search only files named *.html 51 files found, 12 seconds
