Wmlife 1.0.0

Wmlife 1.0.0

wmlife is a life and death dockapp. more>>
wmlife is a program launcher dockapp.

Wmlife is a dock app running Conways Game of Life (and program launcher). Life is played on a grid of square cells where a cell can be either live or dead. In the rules, you count the number of live neighbours for each cell to determine whether a cell lives or dies;

Birth A dead cell with exactly three live neighbours becomes a live cell.

Survival A live cell with two or three live neighbours stays alive.
Overcrowding / Loneliness In all other cases, a cell dies or remains dead.
Normally Life is implemented on an infinite board but due to size restraints wmlife implements the grid as a torus. In a torus, the grid wraps at the edges from top to bottom and left to right.

evilwm 1.0.0

evilwm 1.0.0

evilwm is a minimalist window manager for the X Window System. more>>
evilwm is a minimalist window manager for the X Window System.
Minimalist here doesnt mean its too bare to be usable - it just means it omits a lot of the stuff that make other window managers unusable.
Main features:
- No window decorations apart from a simple 1 pixel border.
- No icons.
- Good keyboard control, including repositioning and maximise toggles.
- Solid window drags (compile time option - may be slow on old machines).
- Snap-to-border support (command line option).
- Virtual desktops (compile time option).
- Small binary size (even with everything turned on).
Options:
-display display
specifies the X display to run on.
-term termprog
specifies an alternative program to run when spawning a new terminal (defaults to xterm, or x?terminal?emulator in Debian).
-fg foreground
frame colour of currently active window.
-bg background
frame colour of inactive windows.
-bw borderwidth
width of window borders in pixels.
-snap num
enable snap-to-border support. num gives the proximity in pixels to snap to.
-mask1 modifiers
-mask2 modifiers
override the default keyboard modifiers used to grab keys for window manager functionality. mask1 is used for most keyboard controls (default: control+alt), and mask2 is used for mousebutton controls and cycling windows (default: alt). Modifiers may be separated with + signs. Valid modifiers are shift, lock, control, alt, mod1, mod2, mod3, mod4, mod5.
-app name/class
match an application by instance name and class (for help in finding these, use the xlsclients tool with the -l option). Subsequent -g and -v options will apply to this match.
-g geometry
apply a geometry (using a standard X geometry string) to applications matching the last -app.
-v vdesk
specify a default virtual desktop for applications matching the last -app. Use 0 for vdesk to set window as sticky.
-V
print version number.
Enhancements:
- Basic Xrandr support, snap-to-border behaviour fixes, and admission of stability.

JSpente 1.0.0.0

JSpente 1.0.0.0

JSpente is a Javascript/DHTML implementation of the strategy board game Pente. more>>
JSpente is a Javascript/DHTML implementation of the strategy board game "Pente". Runs in the browser with several challenging computer intelligence levels. Play human versus computer, human versus human or computer versus computer.

Pente is a simple strategy game played on a grid. The pieces, called "winks" are placed on the line intersections of the board rather than in the squares. Players take turns placing pieces. Pieces may be placed anywhere on the board, though it is customary to place the first piece on the center position.

There are two ways to win the game: place five winks in a row or capture five pairs of your opponents winks. Rows may be established in any direction, including diagonally. Capturing a pair of winks is done by surrounding a pair of your opponents winks with your own so they form a row of four. The captured pair is removed from the board.

It is customary to warn your opponent when you have four in a row. If neither end of your row of four is blocked, you have an "open four" and will win on your next turn. JSpente visually alerts rows of four winks for both players.

JSpente may be adjusted to balance the game if an experienced player is playing an inexperienced one. The required number of winks in a row and the required number of pairs to capture can be adjusted for either player. The computer can control either player or both players with varying levels of intelligence.

zwl 0.0.6

zwl 0.0.6

zwl is the zeta widget library. more>>
Zeta Desktop Environment (ZDE) is an X11 window manager and tools with enhanced usability and features for developers and advanced users.

Some of its current sub-projects include imp, a library of core functions such as linked lists, zwl, a simple widget toolkit and light X11 wrapper, and zimwm, the window manager.

You will need the latest version of imp from svn to compile zwl. Be aware that this is alpha-quality code, and completely unpolished. It has rough, pointy edges, and should be approached with caution and an open mind.

zwl is the zeta widget library. It is designed to be simple, yet at the same time look good and have a nice feel. It is not designed to be a general-purpose application toolkit like GTK+, Qt, or EWL.

It will be used in zimwm for menus, frames, buttons and the like. It will also have selectable rendering outputs for displaying images, such as Xlib or Imlib2. It will have some more special-purpose widgets, such as sliders and the like, for extensions to zimwm, but nothing fancy. It might also have a place in small programs that only need a limited subset of general-purpose widgets and dont mind many constraints.

src/ Contains the zwl source code.
tests/ Contains a test program.
doc/ Contains documentation. Use gendoc to generate it from the source code. You will need doxygen for this.

Xmon 0.0.1

Xmon 0.0.1

Xmon is a graphical system performance monitor for linux, written from scratch using C/Xlib. more>>
Xmon project is a graphical system performance monitor for linux, written from scratch using C/Xlib by myself.

Xmon displays the current system load, used memory and cpu time based on the output of the linux process filesystem which must be mounted before.

Current release 0.0.1 [.tgz, 12kb] doesnt support command line options, all features are hardcoded. Xmon is self explaining, therefore no manpage is available. Further development has been terminated.

Xmon is just the result of a one day training learning xlib (first steps). It means that the algorithm is quite unfinished, untested, buggy and beta.

Memory overflow workaround is implemented. The beta 0.0.1b release is not portable to other Unix derivates (Solaris, AIX...) but it runs on all platforms (Sun, RS6k) which support and run linux.

I published the source code in the hope that someone would spend some time to expand the software because I currently dont have the time.

Jude 0.5.0

Jude 0.5.0

Jude is a RAD tool for data management applications. more>>
Jude is a rapid application development tool that permits to formalize a problem and then obtain a full featured and easy to use data management, workgroup application that can be further adapted implementing specific agents.

Jude is based on a knowledge-base with an object-oriented structure on the server side and a compound-document, agent-based user interface on the client side.

Relational database, Object-Oriented database, document-management systems, XML documents, compound-documents, declarative programming, agent-based systems and Java are well understood technologies but when you use them alone in order to build data-management applications you encounter many problems.

For example relational databases management systems cannot support new data types and for some applications the allowed data are not sufficient. They lack support for long-transactions.

The development of an application using object-oriented database management systems encourages procedural coding over declarative coding and this tends to produce code hard to maintain because there are many relationships between different parts of the program. Jude tries to join all benefits of these technologies in a coherent application framework.

Jude permits developers to specify an abstract, simplified view of the world we wish to represent using an high-level, declarative, object-oriented language and then to obtain a full functional work-group application. Jude try to join in a simple but powerful way many powerful programming paradigms: object-oriented, declarative, agent-based and compound-document.

Developers can extend application functionalities adding new agents to the system. Developers can reuse already specified knowledge-base clusters (there are already clusters related to physics, organization relationships, chemical). Developers can reuse already specified agents, in particular agents related to user interface.

Jude permits users to manage (view, edit, retrieve) documents and structured informations using a coherent and simple to grasp environment based on Java and Swing library.

LAFmessage 1.0.0.0

LAFmessage 1.0.0.0

LAFmessage is a feature-complete library for fetching, parsing, generating and delivering MIME-compliant email messages. more>>
LAFmessage is a feature-complete library for fetching, parsing, generating and delivering MIME-compliant email messages. The project has C++, JNI (Java) and Win32 COM APIs.
For generating mail messages, LAFmessage provides an object-oriented API that represents all the pieces of a message and allows the caller to assemble them in (nearly) limitless combinations to programatically reproduce any feature that is to be found in interactive mail clients (and a few that arent!). These include:
RFC 822-compliant (non-MIME) plain text email.
RFC 2045-compliant (MIME-compliant) plain text email.
RFC 2045-compliant (MIME-compliant) HTML email.
RFC 2045-compliant (MIME-compliant) attachments, both external and embedded.
RFC 822-compliant user-defined header fields.
Messages can also be parsed from RFC 822 or RFC 2045 format into the same object structure to allow programmatic parsing of message content, saving of attachments, forwarding of whole messages, etc.
For fetching and delivering messages, LAFmessage provides the following features:
- RFC 1939-compliant POP3 system for connecting to arbitrary POP3 servers, retrieving and deleting email messages. Downloaded messages are parsed into the object structure for programmatic handling or presentation to an end user.
- RFC 821-compliant SMTP system for connecting to arbitrary SMTP servers, authenticating and delivering email messages. Messages may be delivered synchronously or queued within LAFmessage for asynchronous delivery. Delivery status is available during batch delivery and optimizations are available to speed delivery such as:
- Multiple recipients per SMTP transaction -- greatly reduces network traffic and mail server load.
- Multiple worker threads to deliver queued messages -- can greatly reduce delivery time.
LAFmessage has the capability to canonicalize strings to render strings safe for insertion into HTML, HTML TEXTAREAs, JavaScript and SQL statements.
LAFmessage presents several different APIs:
- A COM interface for use from COM-aware environments on Win32 platforms
- A JNI interface for use from Java applications on Win32 and Linux platforms
- A C++ interface that can be used directly in new programs by simply including the necessary files on Win32 and Linux platforms
LAFmessage is completely thread-safe and suitable for use from ASP pages.
