Ultima Linux is a Slackware-based Linux distribution designed to be easy-to-install and use. more>>
Ultima Linux 4-SP1 has just been made available to the world. This is a minor release, containing primarily security updates and that kind of fun stuff. Also included are Subversion and MPlayer, which are new in this release.
Unlike previous releases, this one is done a little bit differently. If you already have Ultima 4 installed, you dont need to upgrade - the same updates are now on ulupdate, and in the case of the new packages on the packages page of our Web site.
However, because there are so many updated packages - around half the system! - we have decided to update the ISO download to include everything pre-configured for your convenience.
Ultima Linux 8.2 is not available for free download, but interested users can purchase the live CD or the 3-CD installation set from the projects Get Ultima page (from US$3.99).
Enhancements:
- After over a year and a half of intensive development, the Ultima Linux developers are pleased to announce the Ultima Linux 8.2 (codename Godot) release. This is our first major new version since the 8.1 Beta release last year, and the first stable release since all the way back in January 2006. Among other features included in this release: first stable release with full AMD64 support; improved live CD with integrated, easy-to-use live CD installer; Linux kernel 2.6.21.3 with built-in SMP support; X.Org R7.2 (pre-release) with ATI/NVIDIA proprietary drivers; KDE 3.5.7 desktop with full auto-mounting (HAL/D-Bus); beautifully redesigned default desktop; play MP3s, CDs, DVDs, and more right out of the box....
