MCS MyRoute 8.6f description
MCS MyRoute 8.6f with its excellent features will surely help you if you are a network administrator. It is actually a network route performance testing and analysis tool.
It helps diagnose connectivity problems with detailed information, providing visibility to poor performing networks and devices.
MyRoute is a plug-in component of MyConnection Server (MCS). The MCS framework architecture enables you to mix and match network analysis tools to fit your environment, and provides the flexibility to easily modify and add components as your business needs grow.
This tool is useful:
- Enable multiple support staff to troubleshoot remote connectivity problems with two-way connection testing via a browser (requires Remote Test Agents)
- Perform continuous testing from multiple remote locations for ongoing network performance management and identification of changes in connectivity performance (requires Remote Test Agents)
- View results of all connection performance tests in a central database with browser access, get visibility to end-user connection results, identify performance patterns and trends over time
- Easily deploy MyRoute in a full DMZ secure deployment to enable browser access from inside or outside a corporate firewall
- Provide a self-branded connection testing portal for your customers
Major Features:
- Key Features
- Graphical View of Traceroute, Ping, Reverse DNS Connectivity Analysis - Results from several essential network diagnostic tools are integrated into an overall connectivity report, providing a graphical view of connection performance report including packet loss and latency for each network hop. Drill-down detail is easily visible with a mouse over any network hop.
- OmniPath™ discovers all paths to a network destination, reports the performance for each individual route - The common use of load-balancers creates multiple paths that data packets may travel between the source and destination. OmniPath discovers the various paths, enables you to easily see which routes are the fastest/slowest, have the highest/lowest packet loss, or have the highest probability.
- Trace to any Remote IP address or Domain from the MyRoute server - Test connectivity from the MyRoute server to any web server, IP address or network device. Get an instant report of the entire route and each network segment, see where data is being lost or excessive latency occurs.
- IP Location Reporting - The physical geographical locations of network servers and routers is key information for understanding routing problems, viewing the actual route path on global map provides an instant of picture of routing efficiency and distances.
- Network Provider Reporting - See the contact information for the company providing Internet access for each hop of a network route, so you can easily report network problems.
- Domain Whois Reporting - Get instant lookups of domain information from worldwide databases, so you can see the registered ‘owner’ of an IP address or domain.
- IPv6 Compatible - IPv6 is the next generation of IP addresses, and IPv6 networks will be introduced with growing frequency until they are the norm. MyRoute traces IPv6 addresses, reporting the route, latency, packet loss, whois lookups and network provider.
- Shared Services Key Features
- Automated Remote Testing (CAT Add-on) - Easily perform automated network testing from remote systems, to continuously measure connection quality over time, or to quickly troubleshoot a connection problem during a support call -- all managed from the browser-based MCS control panel. See the network path and performance originating from a remote customer desktop or remote data center, to your application server or other location.
- AlertAdvisor (CAT Add-on) - Get instant notifications by email of poor test results, set alert levels for Informational, Warning or Critical, see real-time browser-based reports for alert status.
- Satellite Servers (CAT Add-on) - Perform broadband testing to remote systems, easily deploy satellite testing servers to see broadband performance between multiple points on a global network, remote customer locations, partner locations, etc. Satellite servers can be created and deployed in minutes, easily managed from the MCS control panel.
- MCS Key Features
- Centralized Database with browser access - Easily perform automated network testing from remote systems -- see the network path and performance originating from a remote customer desktop or remote data center, to your application server or other location.
- Customizable Display enables self-branded connection testing portals - The MCS browser-based connection tests are performed via Java applets, which can be easily incorporated into your own web pages with your messaging and branding. You can create multiple web pages utilizing the same Java applet, with customized HTML, JavaScript, or different applet configurations to provide different views and behaviors as desired.
- Plug-in Architecture - The MCS framework architecture enables you to mix and match network analysis tools and service to fit your environment, and provides the flexibility to easily modify and add components as your business needs grow.
Enhancements: 16 July 2009
- Added Trace to field – contains the original trace destination as specified by the user
- Added DNS time field
- Fixed problem where error 196608 was incorrectly generated
Requirements:
- Server System Hardware:
-
- 2 GHz CPU, 20 Mb free disk, 1 Gb memory - Minimum
- MCS should NOT be run on a virtual server in order to ensure accuracy of test results
- Database storage is 900 Mb per 100,000 tests
- Remote Test System OS/Hardware (for Remote Test Agents or Satellite Servers):
-
- Linux/Unix, Mac OS X
- 2 GHz CPU, 1 Gb memory
- Operating Systems (MCS Server):
-
- Linux kernel 2.2.5 and above, RedHat 8 and above, and most other popular Linux distributions - Intel (x86) achitecture only - Must be root to install, but not to run product
- Sun Solaris 2.5 and above - SPARC or Intel (x86) architecture - Must be root to install, but not to run product
- 32-bit or 64-bit - Visualware products run as 32-bit or 64-bit, depending on the Java JRE
