gEDA project is working on producing a full GPLd suite of Electronic Design Automation tools. These tools are used for electrical circuit design, simulation, prototyping, schematic capture and production.
Currently, the gEDA project offers a mature suite of open-source applications for electronics design, including schematic capture, attribute management, bill of materials (BOM) generation, netlisting into over 20 netlist formats, analog and digital simulation, and printed circuit board (PCB) layout.
The gEDA project was started because of the lack of free EDA tools for UNIX. The tools are being developed mainly on GNU/Linux machines, but considerable effort is being made to make sure that gEDA runs on other UNIX variants. Whats New in 1.0.1.20070708 Stable Release:
- This release includes better handling of multiple libraries with the same name.
- Various rendering bugs have been fixed.
- Some issues in the renumbering mechanism when copying components have been fixed.
- A gschem crash on Mac OS X has been fixed.
- A crash when running gsymcheck has been fixed.
- There are some improvements to various gsymcheck tests.
Whats New in 1.1.2.20070818 Development Release:
- This development snapshot includes a non-modal multi-attribute dialog box, the return of support for guile 1.6.x, component selector improvements, preview widget improvements, removal of a few memory leaks, lots of code cleanup, and the usual slew of bugfixes.
