Kerika 1.1 description
Kerika is a new approach to collaboration that provides a visual context for sharing documents, with automatic filing of versions and comments; process templates; and support for very large files.
The Kerika project connects Windows, Mac and Linux users across organizations, networks and locations, without requiring anyone to upgrade their computers, incur up-front costs, hire consultants, or make long-term commitments.
You can sketch out your projects using Idea Pages, add content, develop ideas into subprojects, and then share everything with anyone you like: just list the email addresses of the people you want to share with and Kerika takes care of the rest. The software automatically figures out whether your buddies are also using Kerika; if they are not, they will get their project updates sent to them by email.
Idea Pages work like a "graphical Wiki": any team member can delete an item from a shared project, and any other team member can restore the item later.
The document management features are easy, yet powerful: you can share any type of file (documents, Web links, pictures, software, etc.) with other users, and whenever team members make changes these are automatically sent and filed on everyones computer.
It is easy to attach notes to documents and projects, to share content and processes across multiple projects, to chat sessions with other users and get real-time notifications of updates.
Kerika works on a peer-to-peer model: every user has a complete set of project files and there is no need to rely upon a central server as long as users are online. And for complete privacy, Kerika lets you set up a "private server", on any machine you have, to hold messages for your team members when they are offline so nobody else gets to see what you are sharing with others!
The software is offered as a subscription service: you get a 30-day free trial, after which you can become a monthly subscriber for just a few dollars a month.
