Eye of Gnome 2.26.3 / 2.27.3 is yet another extremely useful utility for Gnome users. It is actually the default image viewer for the Gnome Desktop. Beside the general image viewing component (which is also used by the Nautilus file manager), there is now a first version of a photo collection view.
Of course, this can be also used inside Nautilus e.g. for watching slide shows. Optionally, Eye of Gnome can make use of EXIF information, stored in digital camera images.
The Eye of GNOME supports a variety of image file formats. The GdkPixbuf library determines which file formats Eye of GNOME can load and save. If the appropriate plugins are installed on your system, Image Viewer will be able to open more image formats than those listed below.
